Reflections for Detective James Zadroga
Remembering Det. James Zadroga on the first
anniversary of his death.
Sept. 11, 2001. What a morning that was! One I will
never forget. I remember people giving blood and
Americans from all over this country going to N.Y. to
help the survivors. And as the hours passed, we then
realized the makeshift morgues were empty and there
just weren't going to be very many survivors. Your son gave his life, his very last breath to help his fellow Americans, putting his very life at risk. But it was
something he was used to doing and a calling, to be
sure. I salute him for his unselfishness and am so
sad that he, too became a victim of the terrorists. I don't
have enough words to express what I feel about his
heroic deeds and the tremendous pain it cost him.
He is a true American and makes us all proud of him.
With love from one coast of America to the other.

My thoughts are with you loved ones on this first anniversary of your end of watch. You have not been forgotten as heroes never die and you are a true hero. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and those officers still out on patrol and our soldiers carrying on our fight for freedom.

To the family of Detective Zadroga. His bravery will not be forgotten on this day. Like all the other brave LEO who lost their lives on 911 that day doing their duty. We as a nation thank him for putting other peoples lives before his own. He gave all that was asked of him and more. He gave his life so that other might live. Once again thank you Det. James Zadroga---A brave hero in my book.

Mr and Mrs Zadroga, I just read some of your son's reflections and I must tell you I am crying so much I can hardly see the screen. Your son is nothing short of a hero. I have a very good friend who is a volunteer fire fighter and it scares me to no end that he and your son are so much alike. He has gone into situations that could have turned out in a terrible manner and he has had a couple close calls but he would say the same thing, he would do it again and again. I think this just means that the two of them are doing God's work here on earth. How lucky we both are to have been blessed with angels while we were still here on earth.
Detective Zadroga, may you rest in peace knowing that your daughter is blessed by grandparents who will love her for her entire life.
You made God's army one stronger a year ago today. Rest easy hero.

It's your first anniversary of your death or should I say murder. We miss you, Tylerann cries for you every night and dad and I cry during the day so that Tylerann don't see us. When she sees us crying she comforts us. Image your daughter at 5 years old doing that she is a speical child, just like her dad.
well my baby boy you are gone but not forgotten.
Even though you had to die we know deep down you were a hero. Plus when we spoke you said knowing what you went through you would have done it again, it takes a very special person to do that. We are proud of you. We miss you but feel you are always looking over your daughter.
Happy 1st anniversary in heaven.

Once again we would like to thank all of you who left reflections for our son. And especially those who wrote during the thanksgiving holiday. Jim it was a rough one however the worse one of all is coming. We took Tyler to see Santa on Sunday. She seems to cry for you more and more I think she might just be realizing it. Well you are in our mind, hearts, lives, everyday.
Once again thank you all for leaving reflections for my son they are greatly appreciated and it is so kind and thoughtful to read your letters. We know alot of people that are writing have your own problems but for you to take the time to leave a message for Jimmy is so nice. You have restored our faith in people. Thank you all.
Have a Happy holiday may you all stay healthy for the New Year. I pray for all of you every night it's my way of hopefully thanking all of you.

I read in one of your reflections where you had once said that you wouldn't change a thing about all the work you did at the World Trade Center site. Thank God for people like you that so unselfishly work for the good of others and are always there to help us.
When God needed another angel to walk the streets of gold, he obviously chose the best!

to the parents and son of det. james zadroga, i have been trying to leave a reflection for every fallen officer, now that i have a computer. eow for my son-in-law, jeffrey t hewitt was 04-04-04. one does not realize the pain, hurt and sorrow a family goes through until they lose a member of the law inforcement family. when i came to james' name and begin to read that he was at the twin towers on 9/11, i truly sat here for a few moments, trying to comprehend all that you,the families of victoms, the many that sacrifiiced their lives that horrible day. and how we all have wonderd how such a thing could have happened in america. as i have told other families when their loved ones reached heaven,i know that god was standing with open arms to hold them close, with fallen officers standing there saluting another hero's homecoming. for james and all the others who gave their lives for us on 9/11, that they were presented god's very on medal of honors. ones that eyes have never seen. my heart hurts with you. and i salute each and every policeman, fireman, medical personel and anyone who lay their life on the line on 9/11,and every other day. as the holiday's and the first anniversary of james' passing may the peace of god be ever present with each of. greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother . you will forever be in my prayers. carolyn moore

If anyone should ever have any doubt as to what being a "hero" means then they should read about James. He was obviously a great officer. I can only say to his family "thank you". He and his fellow officers who paid the ultimate price, will NEVER be forgotten. I work in Texas and he's in New York but that doesn't matter one bit, he's my brother officer and he'll be missed. Rest in peace James, job well done.
