Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

All of your church family misses you Micheal. You are forever in our thoughts, each time we see your Mama, Daddy, Ashly and Stephen (he is precious!) we are reminded of the legacy that you have left behind. Through their heartache we have watched them persevere and go forward to honor you. Their hope for the future is a testament of the faith in the Saviour whose presence you are now in. When I imagine how much they miss you I remind myself that though you can never come back to them; they will someday come to you. It is, after all, a mere change of address for now. May their memories of you sustain them during this week.

Micheal,
I cannot believe it has been a whole year since you left us. There was so many things left unsaid that I wish I could have said to you. Shayne and Ariel miss their Bubba so much!!! They talk about you all the time and remember such wonderful times they shared with you. Shayne wears so many of your clothes that Ashley passed down to him often and he reminds me of you so much when he has them on. He wears your ring everyday. Ariel wears you clothes to sleep in all the time. Tony thinks of you everyday!!! He remembers all the fishing times and all the police days on the motorcycle with you!! He loves you and misses you so much! Isabella celebrated her first birthday yesterday! Oh how I wish she could have known her Uncle Bubba!! I wish you were there with us to celebrate but somehow I know you were watching over us anyway. Ashley wrote a beautiful poem for Isabella for her birthday about her Uncle Bubba because she shares a very special day with you!! The day she came to us, you left us but I know you saw her anyway. Steven is so beautiful, he looks so much like you! Ashley is doing a wonderful job with him, you would be so proud of her and Steven. As for me Micheal, I wish you were here!!! Not a day goes by I don't think of you!! I miss you coming to the office to see me and to the house to see me. Everytime I look at peanut butter and milk I can't help but think of you!!! So many memories that keep me going everyday. I love you little brother so much and I miss you so much!!!

Micheal,
We miss you so much. It has been almost a year since you left us but we still think of you every day. We see and spend lots of time with Ash and Steven. He is so smart, I know you are in heaven looking down on him and smiling because of how smart he is and how well Ashley is doing raising him.
Austin misses his Bubba so much. He looks at the things that Ashley has passed on to him that once belonged to you often. He is so proud that he has them. His face lights up when he gets out your ring and wears it.

We met Ashley and Steven at Catfish Point the other night. Man, he has gotten so big. He still looks just like you. He loves those hushpuppies. John Anthony tried to get him to eat some of his fish, it just wasn't happening. Ashley has colered her hair and she looks great. We see your Mom And Dad every once in a while. We still think of you everyday. We love and miss you so much.

Hey Baby Bird!!!
The family and I came down for the mardi gras parade and had a great time. I always looked forward to stopping you as you came by on your motor and saying hello and catching up. As the parade began and all those motor officers were clearing the path, I knew you were there in spirit. I spoke briefly to your dad. I know a day does not go by that he does not think about you. He looked great and did a good job on what I am sure was a tough day for him. Still, you left us with lots of good memories and I just wanted to say that you have not been forgotten. Watch over us Brother.....we'll meet again.

Micheal, we just wanted to say that we miss you so much just like everyone else. There's not a day that goes by that we don't think about you. We wish you were still here with us but we know that you will always be with us. Life just isn't the same for any of us anymore but we are all making it because we know that you would want us to go on and because we remember all the good times we had together. Steven, Brianna, and now Leo are getting so big and they are so precious. There is no doubt in our minds that you look out for all of us now.....We hope that we are making you proud up there. It sounds like thunder far away, but the skies are blue and bright...
And soon they crest the hill nearby, and ride into our sight.
They shake the ground with powerful sound, and they make some hearts beat fast...
They look so proud and noble, like Knights come from the past.

Side by side, they always ride, and seem to move as one...
From early in the morning light, to the setting of the sun.
And children point and wave to them, from cars that pass them by...
And young ones ask their parents, why the men have mirrors for eyes.

They ride the roads, and fight for good, and defend small ones like you...
They ask to ride, and do with pride, and sometimes they are few.
Like men of steel, on Silver Wings, they sparkle in the light...
then with a roar and rumble, they ride out of our sight.

Sometimes when one has fallen, never to ride again...
You can hear the others calling, like thunder on the wind.
Side by side, they slowly ride, and their thunder is a mournful sound...
And the mirrors hide their eyes from us, when teardrops fall to ground.

So if you see one riding, and you look into his face...

I am a motor officer

I sit on steel, leather, and chrome

Lil Mike I just started at PPD, and it's weird sitting back in that office knowing that back in 2000 when you first hired on and I had just started in the explorers you and me went back to the office sat and talked for hours. You told me that you saw Law Enforcement as a calling and was so glad to be working at PPD. We'll know i'm there i just wish you could see me work so I could make you proud. Everyone still misses you and thinks of you everyday not a day goes by that I don't think of you and wear my bracelet In Memory of you. You was always such a great role model for being a father, a husband, a christian, and a great cop. I just hope one day I can make you proud and be half the man you are and was while you was here. I will continue to keep you and the whole Byrd family in my prayers.
