Hi Sweetheart. It's a month tomorrow that you ended your watch and George, your faithful bulldog, is still waiting for you to come home. I've told him that it's just he and I now, but I'm not sure he'll ever get over the pain of losing you as I know I will not. The worst part of this shift is knowing that you won't be walking back in the door and greeting us with your big smile and hellos. We love and miss you so much!!

Burke, you are part of my fondest memories of working at the Third District. You not only showed me the ropes, but your attitude was always upbeat and thankfully contageous to those who ever spent even just a moment with you. You moved on way too soon, but it's only fitting that your devotion to our profession followed you to the end of this journey. We all move on, but the memories are a lasting joy. You'll never be forgotten.

Sarge, you were an excellent role model for a rookie officer fresh out of the academy. Your work ethic was unmatched, which you showed up until your last moment. You will be sorely missed by 3D and the community. It won't be the same without "Thirty Twenty!"

I knew Rod socially from the "4P's", a pub where we used to play darts. We played many a game over several years there. I will always remember him as a friend with a ready smile and a great sense of humor. But more than that, his decency, ingegrity and goodness always shined through. I saw him the night before he died and he was his usual happy self. Smile on, Rod! With love and respect, "Sensei"

As a dedicated 19 year member of the MPD, and fellow sergeant I wish to exress my sadness and pass on my condolences to the family of Sergeant Burke. It is strange, but I did not know him personally, but feel as though I should have given his obvious committment to the citizens and to the job. He was obviously a stand out and our agency will miss him. I would hope that you find some measure of pride in the fact that he passed while doing what he did best and will be honored and remembered for it.

Sincerely, and respectfully
Nicholas Breul, Sgt. M.P.D.C.
