Deputy Bain:
My condolences to your family and friends. The void left by your death will only be healed by the memories you left for them.

About 20 years ago a good friend of mine on my job Officer Joe Hale) was responding to a call at about 7 am when a car came from a side street and clipped his motorcycle and sending him flying and bouncing, what was measured to be about 180 feet. When there was serious concern that he might not make it, the pain we all felt was almost unbearable. Somehow, Joe survived but had to retire.

With that in mind, I can imagine how the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Deputies feel at this tragic loss. My heart goes out to all who knew and cared for Deputy Bain. He may be gone in body, but he'll be with all of you always.

God Bless and Rest in Peace.

The Collie Club of America reaches out to share our feelings of how very much we thought of Pierre – he was a joy and so much a part of our family. Pierre and Diana had planned a trip to Idaho for the Collie National Show April 3-8. We will miss seeing Pierre – he was just too dad-gum good to be true. Someone called today to say he had helped her at a show – she said he did not know her, he saw her struggling and came to the rescue.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Diana and family.

Although I never met Pierre, I have known Diana for year to be, like him, a lover of animals. I feel sure that was a big part of what drew them together. Our hearts go out to her, the family and friends.

As a long time motorcycle rider, I knew the dangers of riding the streets and highway. Like Deputy Bain, I too enjoyed off-road riding. I always felt safer there. People just don’t see motorcycles on the streets, even with red lights and sirens on.

This is a tragic loss, not only to the family and friends but to the community who has lost a dedicate worker for a safer place to live and raise our families.
