Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Pierre Walter Bain

If you didn’t know him… you should have.
Even at the young age of 15 you knew he was going to be a stand out guy. He had more moral character than men 4 times his age.
I had lost touch with Pierre after that year we got to know each other in junior high school. We used to ride BMX bikes together, so hearing that he was a motorcycle officer was no surprise even after all this time. What a flood of memories that hit me when my mother called and said “it’s a unique name, you don’t think it was him do you”? His parents Germain and Orville were the nicest of people and I remember his little brother Kirk being a good kid.
The memories I will keep for myself. For Diana and his children I have only the greatest of sympathy. Please know that you are in my family's prayers.
Rest in peace Pierre.

God Bless each of you who risk your lives daily.

I had the priviledge of attending elementary school with Pierre at First Lutheran. Though we all eventually went our seperate ways and I was not able to maintain contact with him, he left an indelible impression. I speak of him when I reflect back on those days. It is amazing that someone can touch you in ways that you don't realize until they are gone. We all are lucky for having known him, however brief. My heartfelt prayers are with his family and friends. We will see you again one day Pierre.

Pierre,
I'll miss your goofy walk, your charming smile, your sick sense of humor, and all our talks. You are truly one of a kind and I’m lucky to say you were a friend. It won’t be the same here without you. My heart and prayers go out to Diana and your girls, whom you spoke of every day. I miss you Pierre.

Pierre,

Thank you for including me in the lunches at Round Table with you, Mike, Jon and Dave. I enjoyed those times very much and it was an honor to get to know you. I enjoyed hearing your stories and seeing the joy in your face when you talked about your job. It won't be the same without you. There are so many heavy hearts at our station.

If given the choice between seeing another citation being issued or Dep.Bain at home with his family, we all know what choice we'd choose.it is painful losses like this that remind us of how important it is to do the right thing. Police officers, whether Deputies,Agents,Patrol men, everywhere are always at risk ,even when its as simple as trying to get our fellow citizens to slow down and perhaps save their own lives.God bless you and thank you,Dep.Bain for all your efforts.......

Pierre and I attended elementary school at First Lutheran Culver/Palms from 1969 through 1973 or 1974, when his family moved to Van Nuys. Unfortunately, we lost touch with each other at that time. He was a great guy then and I knew he would only get better with time. Judging from the kind words everyone is leaving, I know this to be true. Those of you who knew him in his adult life were truly blessed. When I heard this news on the radio yesterday, I wanted to send my regards to his family, particularly his mother. Pierre's mom and my mom (Ellen) were good friends, and I want her, and anyone else reading this, to know that I will always remember him and the Bain family fondly. May God richly bless you.

Pierre, even though we only knew each other for a short time, I will charish our friendship. I will always remember your "trademark" smile and your handlebar mustache. I will remeber our talks about motocross and racing the Fire & Police Motocross Nationals. I enjoyed 0600 briefing. It will NEVER be the same. Even though your physically no longer here, you will always be in our hearts and you will never be forgotten.

God speed brother..... I'll see you on the other side.
