Jimmy,

You inspired so many us in just your brief time with us. Your passion, energy, discipline and light heartedness was magnetic. I consider myself so fortunate to have shared so many memories with you growing up in High School. Even before you entered law enforcement, you had a way for looking out for others, giving a helping hand, and bringing out the best qualities in us all. Our coach once said that he admired those in the world who did the hardest work and yet recieved little praise. You embodied this quality fully as you gave unselfishly and without reciprocity in mind.

It is amazing how you continue to have a powerful influence in each of those who knew you and in those who are just now becoming aware of a true man who led his life in a dignified and responsible manner. A way in which we all should strive for in life.

You always wanted to be a basketball star but little did you know that you would become a star in your own constellation that we can all look up to at night. As I look up to you tonight, I'm reminded of how much I have always looked up to you. I miss you Jimmy and can't wait to see you on the other side.

Your Friend,
Ed Abeyta, HS Classmate

James, I touched face with you on multiple occasions... you always were polite and with a smile. I never had the pleasure of sitting down with you and getting to know you and swapping stories, you know cop jokes. Our department, state, and country have been dealt a great lose, for heaven has recieved a 10-8 deputy. Your patrol in hell over, now protect and serve from above. You will be missed and never replaced. Godspeed to you my brother.
