Thanks for your service to the citizens of Virginia City and the state of Nevada. You and your partner are not forgotten. On a historical note--Virginia City was the site of the one of the richest silver strikes in the nation. It flourished for decades. Virginia City was a boomtown that attracted miners and other inhabitants from all over the world. The main cemetery in Virginia City has graves of many of its inhabitants--mostly immigrants from all over Europe. The Virginia City Police Dept. no longer exists. It is now policed by the Storey County Sheriff's Office. Virginia City still has a lot of historical buildings and is still a tourist attraction, near Reno. Mark Twain lived there when he came out West and wrote for an area newspaper. His book "Roughing It" describes his travels out West and some of his experiences in Virginia City, Carson City and Lake Tahoe.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and forty-sixth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
