Jeremy "Street Fly" was a good friend of mine and well devoted police officer. His kindness and presence was well known. This does not seem real! I am currently serving in the Navy and am stationed in Japan, so I cannot be with friends and family at this time. My prayers go out to the family and my fellow friends of Street Fly. I truly Wish I could be home...but I know he is watching over... He will be sadly missed and NEVER FORGOTTEN...

You could tell right away after meeting him he came from a good family. Jeremy was a funny guy and always made people laugh. He was fun to be around. I have just recently resigned from the Louisiana Department of Corrections after nine years of service as an Adult Felony Probation and Parole Officer.

Jeremy and I grew up together and were friends. I did not see him often since we have grown up but I will miss not ever being able to see him even if by chance in the future. He was a good man and will truly be missed.

My condolences to his father and the rest of his family.

HERO

Grand Prairie PD, TX

March 3, 2006

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Drugs take their toll on America every day. They destroy families and lives and yet, so many misguided people want them. At times it almost doesn't seem worth the fight, and yet, you and your team were out there, fighting the good fight against drugs, and the lowlifes who deal in them. Drugs caused another family to be affected, yours.

Risks be damned, you were doing what was right and for that, you are a true hero. You will never be far from your family's side nor will you be forgotten.

God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.
