We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. I cried for you even though we never met. Thank you is never enough to say for a hero like you. You did not die alone on that road. I am sure the angels were there smiling and waiting to tell you job done well. I live a few miles from Troop C Headquarters, when I drive by I often think of the men and women giving of themselves each day to protect us.
~Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!
Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.
Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.
I pray your family will find peace in knowing that we appreciate the sacrifice you gave for us...the people of the Southern Tier of New York. God Bless you and THANK YOU

Andrew was in the first wave of the New York Troopers to come to Louisiana to assist us with aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I arrived at the fourth district of New Orleans Police Department as a supervisor. There I was met by several troopers from New York State Police that had come to help us. One of those troopers was Andrew Sperr. I will never forget how eager all the troopers were to help. In just a short time we all became very close. I will never forget those times and now it is even closer to my heart. Words cannot express the sorrow I have for Andrew's family and for his brother troopers. It was pleasure to have known him.

God Bless

Trooper Sperr,

We will never forget you, or your heroism. The NYSP has a rich heritage of public service forged by generations of State Troopers like you. Greater love has no man, than he who will lay down his life for a friend. Without hesitation, in the face of grave personal danger, you put your life on the line to protect us all. Your assailants, who left you to die, alone, on a cold winter day, in a remote location, will be brought to justice, we promise you and your family. We will see you again at the Resurrection. Rest in Peace, Trooper Sperr.

Lt Robert T Dillon
New York State Police
