As my brother Tim so eloquently put it, "God speed, Andy." You were such an awesome friend to my brother and I know how much he is going to miss you. Please watch over Tim. Rest in peace.

Oh Lord, we have experienced a great loss in our lives
and we don't know how to handle it.
There's an ache in our hearts that won't go away,
It's there every minute of the day,
It's there when we wake up in the dark,
lonely stillness of the night.
Help us Lord, to cope with it,
Let us learn how to work our way through
this sadness and grief,
without getting bitter,
without losing faith,
without blaming you,
We have heard that time heals all wounds,
but right now, the wound is too deep,
for us to believe that it can ever be healed.
Give us faith and confidence we need
to know that this aching will eventually
be relieved, that with your help,
we will regain the ability to enjoy life once again.
We also ask you, Lord,
to teach us to give comfort and support
to one another during this trying time.
Give each of us the ability
to make this heartache a little less painful
for all of those who are feeling the loss.

Trooper Sperr,
You are a true hero in every sense of the word. You went above and beyond that day. You will never be forgotten. It's an honor to be part of the NYSP along side Troopers like yourself. Rest in peace...

To the Sperr family,
You should be very proud of your son, brother and uncle. He didn't just serve New York, he excelled at being a Trooper and loved it. I didn't know him personally, but through television coverage I got to know who he was. It is very obvious that your family was very important to him. May your strength as a family and memories help you through this horrible time. I'm sure AJ will always be watching over all of you. You are in our constant thoughts and prayers. We will never forget him.

I was deeply saddened to hear of this tragic event from a friend of mine in the LSP. Tropper Sperr came to the aid of my home state when we needed it most, and for this we will be forever grateful. May God lend His strength and support to the family of Trooper Sperr as well as his fellow Troopers during this very difficult time. Please know that your pain is shared by those that came to know him. You will be in our prayers.
