Officer O'Neal, you had a tough job and did your duty when most of us would want to back away. In the four days you served you left a legacy that is still honored and remembered and always will be.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirtieth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Night Policeman O'Neal - Almost a full 130 years later. Two Fridays ago, I stood in the State Assembly chamber, when your name was one of the almost 250 read off during a motion regarding next month's Police Memorial Week. We will, at that time, wear our mourning bands in memory of all who have fallen in service to our communities. Thank you for your service to the people of Kokomo and the State of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

On the 127th anniversary of Policeman O'Neal's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Policeman O'Neal is not forgotten.
