Friday May 3rd was a bone chilling day both physically and emotionally. The temperature was minus 15 with the wind chill and the sky was blue with nearly no clouds at all. The sky was clear and so was the message I received from Joe's funeral. There was a sea of red, white, and blue. The American flag's colors run deep in the veins of law and order. It was obvious that Joe's blood was all of them. Red for his service in the Fire Department, white for his service to GOD, and blue for his service in the Police Department.

The long thin blue line represented itself well that day sending a message to these evil doers that there is a bond amongst the good that they will never comprehend and that failure to understand it means they can never destroy it.

The American Flag represents Law and Order through its colors. The men who would lay down their lives to protect our way of life should be celebrated for it. Beyond the military, there are the men in blue, our policemen, and the men in red, who are our firemen, and JOE was both. I only hope that we, the white shirted prosecutors can always remember to day our part for law and order. We support the men who put themselves between us and the bullets so that we may live.

Upon this tragedy, I renew my vow to support the Joe Corr's of the world. To prosecute with vigor and dedication just as Joe chased that gunman with honor and dedication. The world mourns your loss but good will always defeat evil because of men like you, JOE. Thank you for your service and may GOD bless your family, friends and fellow officers.

God bless Joe and his family. Give his family the strength to carry on. Joe, when I heard about your death I felt ill. I couldn't believe that this had happened. Your family will always be in my prayers. Friday was a hard day when I had to say good-bye to a brother I had never said hello to.

Rest in Peace

Officer Corr,
My mom told me how you helped as a fireman to get my grandmother out of her house. She was very ill and my sister coldn't get her to come to the door, but knew she was inside. She said you and your brother's and sisters came to help and took down the door.
It's strange how we don't even know each other but our paths and lives have crossed.
I too am a police officer, but very far away from my hometown of Utica, NY. No doubt, there are many people that remember you for making their world a better place.
My God hold you and your family in the palm of his hands.

We stood and waited on the side of the church, so saddened and cold from our loss, yet, when our brothers carried you from the church, the wind wirled wildly, but I was no longer cold. I know you were there. I will miss you.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Corr.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known, despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others, at whatever cost." Joe, you were a good friend. I always thought of you as a member of my family. You will not be forgotten. Godspeed
