Reflections for Police Officer Joseph Daniel Corr
Joe, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you or your family. We miss you! Rest in Peace.

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint...
I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears...
...There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."
Rest easy brother, you are not forgotten

Ever since moving to the town of New Hartford in the mid 90's, I have always had the utmost respect for the New Hartford Town Police. I have had the pleasure of getting to know a few of the officers & have never looked up to a group of individuals more in my life. Joe put his life on the line to protect the lives of others & a day has not passed that I have not remembered that. I keep his family & fellow Officers in my prayers every single day. Know he is watching down from heaven.
*Everyday he put his life on the line to make things better for people like you. So he's not "just a cop" but a hero to me. My angel in blue. R.I.P. Joe Corr*

I still cannot beleive that it's real.
Joe, from my mall security days six years ago when I first met you until the last time I saw you all I can remember is your smile. That perpetual smile, and the zest that you had for this job. You leave many sad people behind...and many wonderful memories. I feel as though I was fortunate just to have known you, and I feel very lucky that I got the chance to work with you as well.
I will never forget Joe Corr's smile, or his attitude, sense of humor, dedication and professionalism. The pain of this loss will in time turn into strength - and Joe's spirit will live on in all of us. I miss you Joe.
To Joe's family, especially Tracie and Kaitlyn, you can call on me for anything at all. May you find some peace in these pages of words from Joe's colleagues.
"This is my shield. I bear it before me into battle, but it is not mine alone. It protects my brother on my left. It protects my city. I will never let my brother out of it's shadow nor my city out of it's shelter. I will die with my shield before me facing the enemy."
