When I heard of Officer Jensen's death I was at work in the Springs and all I could think is why did another officer have to lose his life. I have many friends who are in law enforcement and I know the hole that would be left in my heart and the hearts of their family's if one of them were lost. It takes a special soul to put on that badge every morning and go to a job where you never know how the next call is going to end. Although I did not know Jared I feel as I write this that he is walking with our Lord. I believe god has a special place for the folks that give of themselves as he did and so many others have before him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jared, his family and the other officers that put on that badge and continue their watch. Time will help the pain heal, but the good memories will live on forever for those that knew him. May God watch over all of you. "All Give Some and Some Gave All"

It's impossible to read all the wonderful things being posted by members of the CSPD without somehow getting to know Detective Jensen. It's clear how loved and respected he is and how much he will be missed, though as I always believe, he's never going to be far from family and friends.

Detective Jensen, God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.

I have been where you fear to go...
I have seen what you fear to see...
I have done what you fear to do...
All these things I've done for you.

I am the one you lean upon...
The one you cast your scorn upon...
The one you bring your troubles to...
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart...
The one you feel should have no heart...
The one you call the man in blue...
But I am human just like you.

And through the years I've come to see...
That I'm not what you ask of me...
So take this badge and take this gun...
Will you take it? Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die...
And hear a battered baby cry...
Then so you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me...?

Jared,

Let all who knew you know that you are one of this nations heros. Unlike our armed forces, you served and protected daily, and for this my family and I are grateful. You have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we thank you. It is comforting to know that you can now rest. God bless you and your family.

Dear Jensen Family,

I am so heartbroken at the death of Jared. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. It is not how he died that made him a hero...it's how he lived. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

It just breaks my heart to read of another line of duty death. I check this site every day with the hope that there won't be any new names listed here, when in my heart I know there will. My most sincere condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Detective Jensen. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his wife - I share your agony. My husband was shot and killed in the line of duty 11 months ago today. I wish I could offer you some words of comfort; please know that you are not alone. There are many, many people who walk this path with you - people who have endured similar losses, people who share your pain. I will pray for you.

Detective Jensen, thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Blue Angel.

Jared, a silence has decended upon our office. I no longer hear star wars music, nascar races, or stories about how wonderful your wife is. I no longer get to laugh when you tell stories of Jeff. I no longer get to tease you about how you were able to marry such a beautiful wife. And I will never know what actor played what part in that movie, you know the one right?
Your watch has ended my brother and I will let go of your hand, we will take it from here and will not fail. Be our eyes from on high when we cannot see, and help us have strength when we are weak. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
RIP my friend till we meet again.

My heart cried out that fateful day,
when news came to me you had gone away.

I knew you once and called you friend,
and now my brother your watch must end.

A Blue Angel I have heard you named,
a joyful smile for which you're famed.

You have your wings, and your badge you'll keep,
For those who knew you, we will weep.

When you patrol those streets above, know that down here you are loved.

God needed you now to keep the peace, the newest member of Heaven's Police.

In my heart you will always be, and now a new meaning for DV. Divine Vigilance!

Thank you for your service brother.

Mrs. Jensen, Jeff and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Jared...you are a hero. I will always have very "cool" memories of you from college. You were a brilliant actor and Natalie and you were a brilliant couple. I will always remember you as a symbol of strength and courage throughout my life. thank you for that...

Jared, I don't even know where to begin. You were so dedicated to Police Work, that you never even "took off" your badge in plain clothes. All of the acting in the world couldn't erase the fact that you were a cop; fair, dedicated, yet always smiling. I could hear your laugh all the way down the hall no matter which side your office was on. I can't believe I'll never hear it again. All I can do is think about how we walked out with you on Tuesday night and how excited you were to go to your first Nascar race. I'll miss teasing you about Star Wars and how you wouldn't even go out for a drink with us when we were in Denver because the hotel movie channel was re-playing it.... ALL WEEK! Until this time, I never met Natalie, but I felt as though I never had to with you singing her praises all of the time. Words can not express how deeply you will be missed in our office, but we know you will be seated next to St. Michael with our "eye" and "runnin' tin" for us in Heaven. Debbie, I can't even begin to describe what a wonderful person you are. You welcomed us into your home with a smile and open arms, telling us all to call you "Mom". Feeling your strength in such a time of sorrow has helped us all stand a little bit taller. Now I see where Jeff and Jared got their smiles. Jared, your deal is done, but we have a few more left to go. God Bless you, we will meet you at the PAL.
