Officer Jensen,
Although it's been a year and half since you helped my wife and I, your dedication to your job, and the sincerity in your heart has touched us in ways that you couldn't imagine.
My father-in-law knew your brother, as he is retired from the CSPD. Your brother loved & adored you.....
You will be truely missed, but always remembered, and never forgotten! You are and will always be "my brother in arms!"

I didn't know Detective Jensen, but I heard my son and daughter-inlaw speak highly of him. He helped them once with a situation and he left a positive lasting impact on them and their lives. This was a couple of years ago. They are living overseas and heard of Detective Jensen's death and are deeply saddened. His family should know that he's left such a lasting impression. May God Bless the Colorado Springs police department and Detective Jensen's family in the days, months and years ahead.

Jared you will be missed. Thank you for the "cover" you provided for me and my unit. I'll never forget the time I was racing my RC boats at Prospect Lake and you had to know all of the inner workings of the technology that went into the model. That's when I found out how much you liked NASCAR. God Blesses you now for eternity and God bless your family.

Jared,
Of all the calls we handled together, the one that stands out the most is the very first. I remember us car to car talking about the call, life, etc. I never told you this, but all I could think about afterward was what a damn fine job our department does in hiring the smartest, most amazing people our nation has to offer. Thank you for blessing us all with your many examples of character and strength.
-Rest easy my brother.

Several times I have sat down in front of this computer trying to figure out the right thing to say. I don't think there is such a thing. To your family, friends, and coworkers, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. To you, Jared, I met you once years ago, and have yet to forget that smile. And though I never knew you on a personal level, I can't help but feel like I have lost a friend. You never realize what an impact even a smile can make, until it is taken away. And though CSPD may have lost a brother, we have gained one of the most deserving angels. I know that you will be watching over all of your brothers and sisters in blue as you continue to walk your path with the Lord. You are the true essence of the word hero and I will never forget you. -AMK

Words are insufficient for the loss left to us, but I shall try. Jared, thank you for your shining smile and the laughter you left us with the night before you left us. Debbie, thank you. Thank you for the fine young man you raised and for welcoming us and comforting us in your time of grief. Natalie ... peace, comfort and blessings to you. Jeff, we shall always have your back.

In this line of work we all know that any day "could be the day". I spoke to Jared only a couple of hours prior to him being shot and it never crossed my mind that it would be the last time I would ever do so again. I was not able to get to know Jared as closely as I would have liked to but I do know he was a hell of a cop and an even better person. He will be missed. Jared thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice...you are a true HERO! To Jared's family I know that this is unbelievably tough time for you all, be strong and God speed your guardian blue angel is and will always be watching over you.

While my husband is away at war in Iraq – my children and I live in the city that you helped to keep watch over. Your uniform may not have been BDUs, DCUs or ACUs – but the way I see it is that our men and women dressed in blue goes off to war everyday too.
There are no words to express my gratitude. I must say “Thank you” to your family for sharing you with the rest of the community. I pray that God comforts them during this time of need.
We will always remember the ultimate sacrifice that you and your family & friends have made to our city & country.
I am so sorry for their loss.

J-Rod,
So we played cards last night bro, and my bottle of Pepsi sat there, just waiting to be taken. We left some Mountain Dew and Juicy Fruit for ya.
I can't believe you're gone. I'll always remember that blue helmet and you walking half a mile in front of the rest of us in Vegas.
Rest in peace Jared. There will always be a seat at the table for you.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Hey J-Rod.
It is still hard for me to understand why you are gone. I will always cherish our times together, especially our poker nights. How can I forget those times when John would sit next to you and you would take his Pepsi without him even knowing and you would chew your packs and packs of gum, while drinking your Mountain Dew. At times, I could not believe you would win a hand without even looking at your cards. One of my favorite memories was when you were walking down the Vegas strip in you jeans and cowboy boots. I will not forget our so called study sessions in the Academy that quickly turend into Playstation activities and Movie watching. We quickly learned not to misquote lines from movies as you were there to always correct us.
Although these thoughts have turned into fond memories, I will take them wherever I go, and you are greatly missed.
PS: Thanks for the nickname of the "Wookie" that is a name I will never lose.

Our police community will not be the same without you. Rest in peace.

Jared, it was just the other day that I sat with you in the report room and talked about the recent running of the Daytona 500. Your contagious laugh and beaming smile was the pefect end to my day...thank you. Nothing I say can express how much you are missed and how honoured I am to have been a member of the 43rd recruit class with you and to have served this city with you. You were an amazing officer and an even better person. Thank you for all you have done for me, our department and this city. Rest in peace Jared, your tour is finished and we will take it from here.
To the Jensen family, you will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant you all the strength you need in this horrible and tragic time.
