Reflections for Detective Jared Scott Jensen

The evangelist Billy Graham described courage as follows- "Courage is contagious...When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened." Such courage...inspires! To those who knew and loved Jared Jensen
"Be strong and of good courage..." Deuteronomy 31:7 Go 29!

Having grown up in a police family, friends and family serving, it is hard to see the pain and not think how blessed some of us are everyday. The funeral today serves as a testimony to each of us as to the importance of the calling and how, everyday, police walk a thin blue line. I never knew Det. Jensen...I wish I did...but each of us who have defended family and country have a common bond of purpose which spans time and relationship. Colorado Springs was a little smaller today both because we lost a very important member of our small city; but also because his sacrifice forged a bond between those who were unknown at a funeral. Thank you. You are primi inter pares.

Detective Jensen, you are a hero and it is working with men and women like you that makes me love my job. You have made the ultimate sacrifice for what you loved and believed. For this along with the many other things about you, you will not be forgotten. I salute you and my prayers go out to your family and friends.

i have been a citzen of colorado springs for little over 1yr now. and a native to colorado. i am so sorry to hear bout the city of colorado springs loss of another wonderfull officer of the law. to often we take life for granted and when u least expect it someone special is take away. jared jensen should be looked at as a role model to future officers cuz of every thing that he believed in and stood for. ur in our thoughts and prayers may god watch over ur loved ones in this time of need. and i would like to say that i am happy to live in a city that has pulled together so well to help support the jensen family and all those effected by his death.

Detective Jensen,

You gave your life to protect a public that seldom gives its police forces the respect and appreciation they so deserve. But your courage and selfless service will never be forgotten. You, your family and all your fellow officers are in my thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace.

He Is Gone
You can shed tears that he is gone
or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow becuase of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he's gone
or you can cherish him memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what he'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

With deepest sympathy to the Jensen family and CSPD.

Oh J-rod - you will be so missed! My heart is breaking for your family and friends. Although I haven't seen you in years, I thought of you now and again and it made me smile to know that you were out there somewhere making someone laugh. You were such an amazing spirit, so kind. It makes the best of sense that you chose protecting a community through law enforcement as the next step in your life. Those of us who acted and played alongside you in school will never forget you. Rest in peace.

"ANOTHER HERO FALLS"

EVERY DAY ACROSS THIS GREAT LAND,
AN OFFICER ANSWERS THE CALLS.
SERVIING, DEFENDING AND PROTECTING,
AND WE WATCH AS ANOTHER HERO FALLS.

SUCH A HIGH PRICE TO PAY,
FOR PEOPLE TO FEEL SECURE AND NOT LOST.
OFFICERS ARE RESPONDING TO THE CALLS
AND THEY ARE PAYING THE ULTIMATE COST.

THE PAIN NEVER SEEMS TO END,
TODAY, TOMORROW OR REMEMBERING THE PAST.
SUCH AN ACHE INSIDE FROMT HE HERO'S FALL,
HOW LONG DOES THIS HURT LAST.

WE'RE GIVEN MANY CHOICES,
FROM WHEN WE'RE BORN TILL WE DIE.
YET I WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE QUESTION,
ANOTHER COMRADE'S GONE-PLEASE TELL ME WHY.
EVERY DAY ACROSS THIS GREAT LAND,
AN OFFICER ANSWERS THE CALLS
TO SALUTE AND PAY THE RESPECT DUE, BECAUSE ANOTHER HERO FALLS.

JARED,YOU WERE AN ASSET TO THE DEPARTMENT AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. YOU SERVED HONORABLY AND DIED COURAGEOUSLY!

Jared, your courage has brought us great strength, strength to be better people, strength to be better police officers and strength to become a closer organization. No one has ever worn the French Blue, Gold and Navy of CSPD better than you, for that we will honor you forever; you’ve made us all very proud. Today thousands of hearts are broken, we love you, we miss you more and more every day. Love to you and your family, rest in peace my brother.
