To the Family of Officer Jensen,

I am saddened by the loss of your loved one. I was 5 years old when my father, who was a Riverside Police Officer, was killed in the same tragic way. My heart goes out to Jared's family and widow. My prayer is that you will feel God's comfort during this time of sorrow and all of the days to follow.

God Bless you, Jared. You're our hero!

My heart goes out to Jared's widow, Natalie, and his brother. Jared, as with all law enforcement, and fire department personnel, make our world a better, safer place to live, and he paid the ulimate price for doing so.

May Jared rest in peace, and Natalie find strength to carry the sweet memory of her husband.

Brother Jared,

Our Lord has called you home for reasons known only to Him. He needs your presence in Heaven. Your work with us is complete, but your message will live on. The pain and loss we feel is second only to the love we have for you and your family. We will honor your memory daily as we continue to ‘fight the good fight’. Though we’ll never take your place, please know that Jeff will never be without brothers, as all members of the “thin blue line” share a bond which won’t be broken.

Now that you have crossed through the gates of paradise, please watch over us and ask that when it is our time to join you, Saint Michael will enroll us with you, in his heavenly force. There, as the prayer states, “we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the cities of man”.

Eternal rest, my friend. You’ll always be with us.

Jared,

I am so blessed to know you. From the days of the 43rd CSPS recruit class to covering me on calls in the Creek. One time in patricular you remember Jared the "meth bucket" you got me into on Potter Drive. You are always so eager to learn especially when it came to narcotics. I remember talking to you in great length about how much you wanted to be a VNI detective. I am so proud to see that you got your detective shield.

My fondest memory of you is when you introduced Natalie to us on family day. You said she was all you needed. Natalie always has a way to make you smile that would just make you glow. Natalie you and Jared have a love that most people will never experience. Jared you and Natalie will always have a place in my heart and neither of you will ever be forgotten. Please call if you need anything. It was a pleasure and an honor to have served with you Jared. May you rest in peace.

Saint Michael, Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And you, Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

As I stood on the side of Nevada this afternoon, tears streamed down my face. My heart broke as I watched officer after officer with tears in their eyes. I didn't know Detective Jensen, but I know people who did. I've not heard anything negative. My thought and prayers definately go out to his family. Please know that I will never forget him. God speed to the family. CSPD...be careful out there.

WOW, my heart really goes out to his brother and his wife, it is heart-wrenching story that evokes anger. I just had a good friend pass away from gun fire while on duty with the Dallas Police; his name is Brian Jackson.

There is an expression that another officer/friend shared with me. It is 1* (for you not familiar, it is one "behind" to risk) and it is so true. We only get one life and our friends who passed away were brave and selfless in their final actions.

They will not be forgotten and something that has helped me is writing. I wrote down every memory that I could think of and every account that friends and family shared. We forget so much in life and that was the way that has helped me know that every memory I can salvage will not be forgotten through natural memory loss. It is like a verbal picture book that I will look back on in 1, 5 & 50 years. I encourage you to do the same, when you are ready, to preserve your memories and Jared.

I did not know Jared to well, but we went to the same high school back in the day. I saw him in a play with my brother, Midsummer Nights Dream, he played the comic relief character. As unfortunate his death is, I'm happy to see the many lives he has touched and my thoughts go out to his family and friends. RIP.

Jared....I don't have the words. I will remember how you would always take the time to chat. It didn't matter that you were in the middle of a PC affidavit, or on your way out with Chaney and Fox you always had time for a classmate.
We all love you and miss you dearly. Sleep well my brother.
