I WAS AT DETECTIVE JARED JENSENS FUNERAL. IT WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS I HAD TO SIT THROUGH. WATCHING HIS WIFE BE IN SO MUCH PAIN AND BARELY BEING ABLE TO TAKE THE FLAG. ALSO LISTENING TO HIS FATHER TALKING ABOUT ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS HIS SON ACCOMPLISHED AND HIS STORIES. MY APOLOGIES TO YOUR FAMILY FOR ANOTHER LOSS OF A CHILD, I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH. MY HEART DROPPED AND I COULDNT HELP BUT CRY WHEN I HEAD THE LAST CALL. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL FUNERAL, AND IT WAS OVERWHELMING SEEING ALL THE CITIZENS OF COLORADO SPRINGS STOP WHAT THEY WERE DOING TO HONOR DET JENSEN. I THANK YOU FOR SACRAFICING YOUR LIFE TO PROTECT ALL THE CITIZENS. MY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ALL MY LOVE AND PRAYERS.

Jared, my son. How you loved your position with the CSPD. With total committment, passion and courage you served the citizens of Colorado Springs. Untill I am with you in Heaven the devastation in my heart will be with me. But on that day, when I am with you again ... then I will smile for I will then be with you for eternity. I love you, son ...My Jared.

In Valor there is Hope. Rest in Peace Brother.
Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

To the Jensen and Padula Families,
It is with the utmost appreciation that our family extends their deepest sympathies. My husband has been on CSPD for 9 years and both of my sisters-in-law are sergeants with CSPD. I am so proud of the work that all of the officers do. It's true that each day when we send our spouses, who are officers, off to work, the ever-present dangers of what they may face are always on our minds, but we suppress those fears because we know that their selfless service to our community really does make a difference and does save lives. I was at Jared's beautiful service and was so touched by the outpouring of love for his family. When you have multiple family members serving as officers, you cannot help but to be so very proud of who they are and what they sacrifice. So, from one police family to another, we salute you!

The memory, dedication, and commitment of Detective Jared Jensen will not be forgotten but will live on in all law enforcement officers who put on a uniform everyday and remember why they are police officers. I was deeply moved by the outpouring of support that was displayed on Monday the 27th of February 2006. I will never forget they day as long as live.

I attended the funeral services for Detective Jared Jenson on Monday. I never had the chance to meet Detective Jensen, but after hearing the eulogies, I wish I could have known him. It sounded like Jared was an amazing man and unfortunately he paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the citizens of Colorado Springs. I have ran the images of Monday through my head a thousand times in the last two days and for some reason I cannot get some of the images form that day out of my head. I cannot help but think of the absolute pain I could see in his wife’s eyes during the ceremony and the absolute pain I could hear in his father’s words. I keep seeing the image of the black and white photo next to his casket. It saddens me deeply to think of the loss his wife and family has endured. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

The precession was an amazing sight and it was good to see the hundreds, maybe thousands, of supporters from the community standing along I-25 and Nevada Ave. My thanks goes out to those people that stopped and exited their vehicles during the precession and took the time out of their day to honor a hero. It was nice to see people actually stopping to pay their respects to a fallen hero. My thanks also goes out to all of the other citizens who lined the street on Monday.

A thank you to the Colorado Springs Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol for an outstanding job. The department and its officer’s did an outstanding job during difficult times and I think they all deserve recognition for a job well done.

It was obvious that Jared was a Christian by listening to the words spoken at the services. That being said we all know Jared is in a better place just waiting to see his family again on the other side. The world was defiantly a better place for having had Jared in it and he will not be forgotten.

Jared thank you for your service and for being a part of the thin blue line that protects the good from evil. You paid the ultimate sacrifice and we thank you for your dedication. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I was involved in theater at New American Theater with Jared, and also in Y.A.T. He was the nicest guy. Once, I accidentally slapped him in the face while swinging my arm around, and he just laughed. I had the biggest crush on him. He had the longest eyelashes I had ever seen. I used to gaze at him while he played his guitar for castmates during breaks. He was a wonderful person. My thoughts go out to his wife, family, and friends. He will be very missed.

My heartfelt sympathy is with Natalie and the Jensen family. I was absolutely astounded at the respect and gratidude shown at the celebration of Jared's life on Monday. No one could have walked out of the church without knowing what love and respect Jared showed for his friends, fellow officers, strangers, and his family. I will never get the black and white photo of Jared that sat next to his casket out of my head. I will see that photo every time I represent my badge and own self worth. What a man...
