Jared,
My brother, my friend. It seems like just yesterday we were in the academy, and it was just the day before your meeting with God that I spoke with you. As usual you had a small smile on your face and looked laid back but professional all at the same time. I wish I would have said more to you that day, but you know know that now. I thank God for his grace and I know I will see you again in due time.
Mrs. Jensen and family, may God help you find the comfort and peace in this time of sorrow. Jared was a wonderful guy and will be missed by many. He will never be forgotten, especially by those of us who were lucky enough walk beside him during his life here on earth!

Jared,
Like all those that wear the badge, you confronted people that the average person we serve fears and would cross the street to avoid contact with. You lived, served and died with honor. Rest In Peace.
Jeff and family,
We love you and our thoughts and prayers are with you

May God bless Officer Jensen and his family.
To paraphrase George Skypeck, Officer Jensen went places and did things others feared to do, and asked nothing of those who gave nothing. He has seen the face of terror and felt the stinging cold of fear, and has lived times that others would say are best forgotten. His family and colleges are be proud to say they knew him, and that he was a cop.
Jared Jensen has now paid the ultimate price for those he served and protected. My one and only child, my daughter, lives in the Springs and is a Springs native. I thank God for every one of those officers who patrol those streets and make it a safer place for her to live. I would bet my next paycheck that not a single officer has done anything but strengthen their resolve to carry on with the mission, regardless of the inherent danger.
God bless all the men and women in blue.

I never knew you, personally, Detective Jensen. But in the family of peace officers, I know who you are and for what you stood.
May your sacrifice and that of all who have served the peace and welfare never be forgotten.
May the Divine Source of all healing and comfort surround you, your family, and our family of blue.
May your spirit fly beside us, as upon the wings of an eagle.

I first met Jared Jensen on July 31st, 2002. We were both going to be in the 43rd recruit class of the Colorado Springs Police Department. He was a young man who wanted to join this agency to be a police officer just like his brother it was a new adventure, all those things that you want to be a cop for. I was the old one, been a cop for twenty years, and joined this fine department. He picked my brain about everything law enforcement wise. He wanted to learn and learn he did. During the academy I saw several different types of personalities. Jared had the finest qualities you would want to see in a new officer, he cared; he was smart, learned quickly, physically capable and he had the drive. After we graduated we went to the same division, (The Creek) Sand Creek Division. A ruff area of town, but that’s were the action was. Jared did well, I never saw him badge heavy, abusive or say a cross words to anyone. He wanted to learn and to do the good things that you become a cop for. He always talked to me about my time in the Metro Narcotic’s unit. He wanted to go to the unit and have an adventure. In 2005 Jared got his wish and came to the narcotic’s unit. I was back in the unit again. He picked my brain more, we talked often. He was always a happy, fun and
