Reflections for Detective Jared Scott Jensen
Jared,
Words cannot describe the loss we all feel these days. Your selfless service to our department, your fellow officers and the community will never be forgotten. We as Police Officers do this job in order to make some difference in not only our community but in our own lives. You have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, performed admirably during your career and are an inspiration to us all.
Thank You and God Bless.

May they never forget your faithful service to your community and department and the brave HERO that you were. To the family, friends and co-workers, our heartfelt prayers and sympathies are with you. May God be with you all during this very sorrowful time. Words will never compensate the loss you have suffered. We pray that He now gives you all strength in your time of need. Not too many years ago I stood at he graduation of a CSPD class at the U. S. Air Force Academy. Our son was one of the graduates and with tears flowing I could not have been prouder. He has since been forced to retire due to health issues but has continued his love for the life he chose. It was not by his choice. He is now a civilian with the department.
I had the privelege of ride alongs with various CSPD officers and my admiration for all of you only grew. Now our prayers for the family and department of officer Jensen are with you.
May God show tremendous grace to you at this time. Thanks so much to Officer Jensen for the ultimate sacrifice. RIP

Gone but Not Forgotten
by Kelsey Y. Sheppard
You were so full of life,
Always smiling and carefree,
Life loved you being a part of it,
And I loved you being a part of me.
You could make anyone laugh,
If they were having a bad day,
No matter how sad I was,
You could take the hurt away.
Nothing could every stop you,
Or even make you fall,
You were ready to take on the world,
Ready to do it all.
But God decided he needed you,
So from this world you left,
But you took a piece of all of us,
Our hearts are what you kept.
Your seat is now empty,
And it's hard not to see your face,
But please always know this,
No one will ever take your place.
You left without a warning,
Not even saying good-bye,
And I can't seem to stop,
Asking the question why?
Nothing will ever be the same,
The halls are empty without your laughter,
But I know you're in Heaven,
Watching over us and looking after.
I didn't see this coming,
It hit me by surprise,
And when you left this world,
A small part of me died.
Your smile could brighten anyone's day,
No matter what they were going through,
And I know everyday for the rest of my life,
I'll be missing you.
A Friend

Our sincerest & most heartfelt condolences to the Jensen Family & My Brothers & Sisters of The Colorado Springs Police Department for your loss.
The following is a Fallen Officer's Prayer I found while visiting the N.Y.P.D. Museum & Ground Zero in 2005.
Fallen Officer's Prayer
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
My Name For All Eternity.
Recorded Here At This Hallowed Place.
Alas, My Name, No More My Face.
'In The Line of Duty' I Hear Them Say.
My Family Now The Price To Pay.
My Folded Flag Stained With Their
Tears.
We Only Had Those Few Short Years.
The Badge No Longer On My Chest.
I Sleep Now In Eternal Rest.
My Sword I Pass To Those Behind And
Pray They Keep This Thought In Mind.
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
And With A Heavy Heart And Bended
Knee, I Ask For All Here From The
Past...
Dear God, Let My Name Be The Last.
Det. Jenson's brave & selfless actions epitomize why we, as Cops, run directly into the danger that the people we've sworn to protect are running away from... Because we choose to!
Rest In Peace Jared. May God Watch Over Your Family.

Dear Jensen Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Every police officer, every paramedic, every fireman and everyone in the military is a hero to me. I go to the firefighter memorial every year and I just think that all of those people gave their lives so we can enjoy ours. You should be proud of him. You will get through this. You are in my prayers.

Jared,
I miss you. I miss your enthusiasm while diving through the window at the end of the PAT, your self proclaimed anal retentiveness at having three plus alarm clocks going off to make sure you were not late for work, your excitement at being a new officer and following in your brother's footsteps, your courage to admit that you were a dancer and actor before pursuing a career in law enforcement, the way you were able to do so dang many pullups and not get tired. Most of all I miss your openess and philosophy of living, the way you could talk to people from all backgrounds including me. When I look at your picture I see and remember your smile and your shaven head. I smile myself just to think about the light that you brought to my life. Even though I miss you I know you are smiling where you are at now. This knowledge makes me smile again and look forwrd to the day when I will see you again and embrace you as the brother that you are. Untill that day.
Your brother,
Gary

Jensen Family and friends: I hope this helps bring peace to your broken hearts. God Bless you all .
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rights in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me-but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all part of the masters plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your thoughts in doing good deeds
Miss me-but let me go

"Thoughts and Prayers" cannot even begin to fill the void left by your absence. We will all forever remember the numerous "Mountain Dew High's" and the endless packs of gum you demolished. We hope there's a empty seat up there for youu and your infamous "no-peek all-in's".
Though You loved to brag to "The Guys" about all of your accomplishments throughout the week (as we all do), it was and always will be understood that you did your job with all others as your first priority. We love and miss you.

To the Jensen family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Though I did not know Jared personally I did have the opportunity to work along side his brother Jeff during the time I was also an officer with CSPD. Through knowing Jeff I can only imagine what a great person Jared was and what a huge loss his passing is for CSPD as well as the community.
On behalf of all of the sworn and civilian personnel with the Castle Rock Police Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and our thanks to Jared for his dedicated service.
