Reflections for Detective Jared Scott Jensen

Turtle,

On the way home this morning, I stopped by the makeshift memorial setup for you. As I stopped to admire the outpouring of love and support, I was greeted by the warm sunrise. I saw the picture placed there of your team, and couldn't help but smile as I looked at the smile on your face. I will always remember the smile on your face and laughter that was contagious.

RIP my friend.

Timing

The tears flowed like a river, streaming down my face.
Another brother gone, but you got your call to a much better place.
The sky was blue and the sun was shining,
your time to go had such bad timing.
You should of had a long time to drift,
But for you - now many will finish the shift.
The skies are dark now,
and the gloom has set in.
But bringing in the bad guy,
The light is getting brighter again.
Now when I think of you -- I think good thoughts.
You will be missed and It's awful to think how this man took your life away,
But, now I know no harm can be done to you today.
(Author / M2)

May God bless your family and give them the strength they need. I know you will be watching over them. Rest in peace.

"Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed and on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in may.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.

And the sky breaks at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They'll all come around
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
G'bye for now.

And the road
The old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just g'bye for now."

We miss you Jared... Goodbye for now, and we'll see you again..

I met Officer Jensen during a ride along back in Sept. 2004. I remember how nice he was to me and how he answered all of my questions happily and without hesitation. I also remember how he had to put a new piece of gum in his mouth each time he got out of the patrol car to talk to someone, which I found rather humorous.
Even though I only spent a few hours with Officer Jensen I am very happy that I was able to meet him. He was a great guy and will be missed by many people, including myself. I will always think of Jared as I pursue my career aspirations in criminal justice, he is my inspiration and my hero.

My thoughts and prayers are also with the Jensen family, I can only imagine how difficult a time this is for all of you.

Policeman's Prayer

When I start my tour of duty God,
wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding
with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until
their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment
in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience
let every man have his say.
Lord, if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

To the family and friends of Officer Jenson, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
