Reflections for Special Agent Daniel Joseph Kuhlmeier

I did not know SA Kuhlmeier personally, but it is clear he exemplified the qualities of selfless service, personal sacrifice and courage that are indicative of those in the law enforcement profession. I mourn the loss of a colleague and honor his memory. May God bless his family during this difficult time.

It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others. Ephesians 2:10

Special Agent Kuhlmeier you accepted your assignment and you made a contribution. This is not the end just the beginning of a new life that was waitng for you. Now you belong to him who called you. Rest in peace my brother.

To Dan's family: I know so well the kind of man Dan was and had to have been because his mission in Baghdad was full of like-minded dedicated patriots who had volunteered to share democracy and help to bring peace to a land so direly in need of it. His calling was just one large step further than most of the others, God clearly had it in His plan to have Dan with him in eternal glory. Please know his death was not in vain, and his life and his cause has been shared and received by so many. May God provide him with eternal and peaceful rest, and bring comfort in that knowledge to you. The prayers of so many are with you all. God bless.

Dan,

I never had the privilege of getting to meet you or serve with you and I am at a loss for that. As I am currently deployed on the same mission you were on but a different location, I know the risks we endure but also know the reason why we are here. I wish eternal peace on your soul and save us all a good seat with the big man upstairs. Thank you for your service.

To Dan's family,

My deepest sympathies for your loss. When a brother and sister in arms passes, we all lose a small part of us. My heart, prayers, and thoughts reach out to you in this trying time.

God bless you all and God bless America

While I have never met you, my heart goes out to your family, especially your little girl. She will never experience the joy of knowing her father and the great man he was. To your wife, may God help her with raising your daughter and giving her the strength to be the great parent that I am sure you both would have been together. Dan, you are a credit to your family and the nation. You gave the ultimate to your country so others can have freedom. You will always be remembered for that. May we, who are left behind, carry on and also be remembered for our great deeds. May God give strength to your family to carry forth and He keep you in his care for eternity. We, at AFOSI, will always remember you, one of our own, who died in service to his country. God bless.

I never quite understood why people voluntarily joined the armed forces... until I attended your life celebration. People like you are not people that crave violence, rather crave peace and are brave enough to protect the country you love. Thank God for people like you. Thank you for your service to this country. To your family: You must be so proud of Dan. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have re-written this reflection so many times now, but am unable to come up with the words to express how saddened I was to hear of your passing. I was lucky enough to have worked with you and I admired what a great man you were. The only thing I really can say about the sacrifice you made for our country is THANK YOU. You will be remembered everyday. To Dan's family - My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dan-I am honored to have known you, your passing brought tears to my eyes. I morn the loss of an honorable man and fellow investigator. I will never forget the last time we spoke, just days before your deployment. You greeted me with a firm handshake and a warm welcome. You were wearing the cleanest, most bright white dress shirt I have seen. In a way that shirt represented how you lived your life and conducted your duty to country and family. I want you to know I consider you my friend and I will miss you. I promise to honor your memory by being a better investigator and American. God bless you and your family, may God comfort them.

Dan,

To a FLETC classmate, a friend, and a true professional. When I saw you at the Baghdad Airport I was glad to see a friendly face and I knew that the work of the SCID was going to be left in very good hands. Then a few weeks after that meeting, I heard about your passing and was left speechless. God must have needed a good man by his side and he got our best. With that being said I believe we will all see you again someday, until then rest brother, we will take on the fight from here.

Dan,

You and I served on MSG Duty together in Bonn, Germany. We weren't the best of friends due to me being at my final post, and you at your first, I think our priorties were a little different (You being green and wanting to learn everything, and me being an old salt to the program, and I just wanted to party), but I must say that there was never a time that I didn't respect you because of your professionalism and attention to detail. As I read some of these other comments left from some of your friends and co-workers, I teared up a little because I wish I could of gotten to know you on a more personal level. You are the fourth person that I have known to pass from my days on MSG duty due to the war. I am sure that I will be heading back soon for another tour in Iraq, but you can rest assured I will do everything in my power to inflict as much heartache on the insurgents as they have inflicted on all of your friends and family. Semper Fi Devil Dog!!! Rest in Peace My friend!!!
