I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dan a couple of years ago. It did not take long to realize that Dan was truly one of the good guys in this business. Dan was dedicated to his career as evidenced by his performance and professional demeanor. It was also evident that Dan was a proud father and loving husband. Rest in Peace my friend, Rest in Peace.

Dan, you flew through Kuwait on Tuesday, 21 Feb 06. We gathered together at 0300 to honor you and send you home. All OSI agents in Kuwait were there. In the darkness of early morning, people gathered, many who never knew you, but wanted to honor your greatness and sacrifice. You were carried by Marines, an Army soldier, and three Air Force OSI agents – all three services in which you so proudly served.

While you were in Kuwait, you were not alone. We were all with you. Your brothers and sisters. Even though we can no longer be with you, you will always be with us. Thank you for touching my life. I am honored.

To Dan’s family, friends, and co-workers; I wish I could find the words that would help ease the pain we are feeling after Dan’s tragic departure. I pray that God will comfort us. But I want to take a moment to praise the Lord God for placing Dan in my life, and for allowing me the opportunity to share time with him during our Advance Deployment Operations Training prior to our respective deployments. During that short period, I learned that Dan was a man of integrity, honor, loyalty, and courage, but most importantly, I learned that Dan loved his family very much. I did not learn this from the words he spoke but instead through his actions. I also want to praise the Lord for allowing me the opportunity to honor this great American HERO by escorting him to Ramstein AB, Germany on his way to his final resting place. Dan thanks for being my partner and friend; you are a true Hero and I will miss you. May God have you in His glory.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Agent Kuhlmeier. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his wife - I share your agony. My husband was shot and killed in the line of duty 11 months ago today, leaving me to raise 2 young children on my own. This is a very, very difficult journey that none of us wanted to take. Please take comfort in knowing that you do not walk this path alone but with many, many people who have endured similar losses.

Thank you, Agent Kuhlmeier, for your service and ultimate sacrifice. You are a true American Hero. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Blue Angel.

To the Wife, Daughter, and Family of Special Agent and HERO Daniel J. Kuhlmeier. You have made the ultimate sacrifice and shared your loved one in his effort to protect us all and to help mankind. May God bless you and give you strength and the knowlege that men like Daniel are what make us the greatest nation in the world and proud to be American. He is certainly a HERO who will not be forgotten. My prayers are that his young daughter grows up to understand why her daddy was not able to be with her in body but that she has the knowlege and understand to walk through life with her head held high and be proud that her daddy was one of the best there is. He makes us all proud and thank you little one for your life long sacrifice. Your daddy will never be forgotten.
Thank you and Rest In Peace Special Agent Daniel.
God Bless those you leave behind.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

I never met Dan face to face -- only through the online Discussion Board for our master's degree program. Dan impressed us all with his deep concern for Law Enforcement issues and his desire to better himself as an agent, by studying International Relations. His great love for his family was readily apparent in his comments to the class. My heart and prayers go out to his wife, baby daughter and other family members. Another American hero has fallen. God bless Dan and the entire Kuhlmeier family. I am praying for you.

Words can not say enough but, we mourn another hero that has been taken from us. If it was by accident or crimes against an officer it is a great loss. We will be praying for your family during these trying times. My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers. May the Lord give you strength and bless each of you during this time.
Remember these few verses from Psalm 23, The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
