Reflections for Special Agent Daniel Joseph Kuhlmeier
Dan,
It sorrows me that a man with as much courage, integrity, morality and honor was taken from everyone. You touched me beyond words and I admired you greatly. You were always willing to go the extra mile to help me. I told you when you left to keep your head down and not try to be a hero because you were already just for going there. You are a true American hero Dan and I will miss you. I pray for your family and promise we will never forget them or you. Rest in Peace my friend.

Dan, as a family friend, your soccer coach, former police officer I just wanted to say what an honor it has been to be part of your life, to have seen you grow from a child into the man that you were. I am not surprised of the path you choose in life knowing you family’s tradition of service to this country. I am impressed though in what you have been able to accomplish in your life in such a short time. My prayers and thoughts are with your wife and daughter as well your parents, brothers and sister. So it is with a heavy heart I say good bye. Rest easy my friend.

Hitting the winning jump shot, catching the winning touchdown, and starring in a movie makes you a celebrity. Standing up for injustice, helping to right wrongs, and giving your life for peace makes you a Hero. RIP my brother! May your badge never tarnish..

Dan, the news of your sudden death knocked the wind out of me. I wish I knew you better on a personal level. We worked side by side, but rarely talked about life outside the office. At work you always exemplified professionalism and dedication. You made me a better person, the detachment a better place, and all of us better agents. Your daughter can be proud- her dad was an example to us all.
Rest in peace Dan.

When I think of the scores of men and women who serve in Iraq especially, I marvel at how many we get back. And I wish it didn't have to be Dan. I don't wish it on anyone, but I wish it didn't have to be him. God keep and comfort his family and friends. God keep those who serve everywhere in the world.

I never met Dan Kuhlmeier; however, my heart still goes out to his family, who have suffered the unimaginable loss of what is obviously a phenomenal man, even as my soul rejoices knowing Agent Kuhlmeier is basking in God's presence. I pray His comfort for the family and friends during this time, that, in remembrance of Dan's impact on your lives, you'll be able to smile through your tears.

As Chief of Military Justice at Offutt AFB, I had the privilege of working closely with SA Kuhlmeier (Dan). Dan took great pride in his work and played a major role in achieving appropriate sentences for military members who had committed crimes against the UCMJ. What impressed me most about Dan was his commitment to the safety and welfare of the victims and witnesses involved in these crimes. Dan made us a better Air Force.

Dan Kuhlmeier was a great and talented man and agent, a poster boy for professionalism and everything the U.S. military and law enforcement stands for. He represented the best of us, and I'm proud to have known him. For me, the news of Dan's passing has been a perspective check I think we all need from time to time - to remember what's really important.

Rest in peace brother. I left Baghdad a few weeks before you got there, so unfortunately I never got the chance to meet you. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for the sacrifices that you have made on behalf of your country, and that reflects greatly on you. You are truly a reflection of American courage.
