Hello to everyone!
I wanted to thank everyone who has so graciously kept myself and my family in their thoughts and prayers, since Kevin's death. It means a lot to us that so many people care enough to leave messages who have never met us. Thank you to all the law enforcement officers who risk their lives everyday to keep us safe. Also, thank you to everyone else for their support.
God's Blessings to everyone,
Kera

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

It seems like only yesterday when you stopped and made sure I was ok while I made a traffic stop. Although we did not know each other well, you did not leave me there until you made sure I was ok. I will remember that always. Thank you for your dedication and service as a Law Enforcement Officer. Rest in Peace.

I just wanted to remind everyone what anamazing person Kevin was... he was the most selfless people i've ever met. i still can't believe that he is gone, and i want to let everyone know how much he impacted my Youth Group at Antioch Church of Christ (Manassas, VA) He brought our youth group closer together and showed us what really matters in life: family, friends, and most of all our relationship with Jesus Christ

Kevin,
It looks like it's been a while since someone left you a reflection. Brother, I can asure you that you have not been forgotten. Just a couple of weeks ago another fellow officer was shot and it brought back the painful memory of Feb 18, 2006. Brother, I hope you are resting peacefully and always remember that you will never be forgotten.

Today is the first anniversary of your EOW. I know it
brings back many painful memories for those who
knew and loved you. I found this poem today written by
Bonnie Sanchez for her Mom. I think it is fitting for a
reflection so I submit it with thoughts of you and all
those hurting today because of their loss. God bless.
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought of you yesterday and days before that, too.
I think of you in silence, I speak your name with pride,
And I relive our memories of living side by side.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part.
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
