May God keep your family and friends in his care. May he give your fellow officers the strength they will need to get to this horrible time. To loose a fellow officer is a reality that no officer wants to face. The reality of just how dangerous your job is, the possibility that this could happen to you. You are not supermen or women, you are just everyday people doing a job no one thanks you enough for or wants to do themselves. May God keep you strong for your family and friends and for those of Earl. He will be sadly missed and the tears will flow!

To Officer Scotts family, friends and to the entire CHP family: This is such a tragic loss and yet, becoming more and more frequent in today's society. Just from reading the posting about Officer Scott, I'm quite certain that there was nothing else he would have rather been doing at the time of his passing. His family obviously has a sense of duty and pride and a long tradition of serving the folks of California. May God welcome Officer Scott into the streets of Heaven with open arms. From all of us who share the badge, our hearts are with you. Thank you for serving as you did. Rest easy now, we'll take the watch from here.

"Though I walk throught the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me" Psalm 23:4
Slowly at first but most assuredly, The Lord provides comfort and release from the darkness. He gives light. He leads us out. Eventually, we escape the valley of the shadow.
I am sure that you have made your family of Seargents proud. You are in my prayers. Thank you for your dedicated service to our state.

My Company has rolled on a few Rotation calls that Officer Scott was at, He was a nice guy to work with, making sure my tow driver was safely loaded before he left the scene. He always had a joke and a smile. We at J&M Towing offer our heart felt condolences to Officer Scott's family and loved ones. Officer Scott may be lost, but he will never be forgotten.
