Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Ryan Christopher Seguin

To the family and friends of Deputy Ryan Seguin and to his fellow officers with the Broward County Sheriff's Office:

My heart was saddened today to learn of another tragic event that took the life of a dedicated law enforcement officer. On behalf of our entire family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you sustained when Ryan was tragically killed.

Ryan was so heartbreakingly young ...with a whole lifetime ahead of him.

To his parents: I share with you the unbearable pain of losing a child in the line of duty. You feel like a chunk of your heart is missing, and it is. To his father, I know that you must have been proud of your son following in your footsteps and I am sure he felt great pride in having been insprired by your example.

May you be comforted by the support and warm embrace of the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement, and other police survivors who share this painful journey with you. Deputy Seguin is a true hero whose bravery and dedication to protecting the citizens of Florida will not be forgotten.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Deputy Seguin gave to his community and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 15, 2006.

Ryan -

I remember the nights that you and I worked downtown at "USA Parking" together till 5am - and the night I met your father who brought us a cup of coffee so we would not pass out from exhaustion. How I used to try and convince you to come to Pompano Beach to work up there - and how you tried to talk me out of leaving BSO. When I heard it was you who got killed in the car crash, I cried, knowing what a great guy you were to know and how lucky we all were to work with you.

Your career was cut too short - and although we may never be able to understand why you were taken from us so early in your life - we will all make a pledge to you today to carry on the mission that you undertook and loved so much. You, along with your father and mother, will always be in my prayers, along with all the current and former members of the family known as the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Please keep all the rest of us safe as we carry on in the wake of your tragic departure.

Rest in Peace my brother - you will never be forgotten!

It is so hard to loose a brother officer to such a careless act. I lost a good friend and co-worker to a traffic accident 11-9-05. My thoughts and prayers go out to Deputy Sequin's family, friends, and fellow officers.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Deputy Seguin. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his dad - I share your agony. I lost my husband in the line of duty 11 months ago, so I understand your suffering. Ryan was too young to die, he had his whole life ahead of him. It just doesn't make any sense. Please know that you are not alone - you walk this path with many, many others who have endured similar losses. Take comfort in the fact that Ryan is forever safe in the arms of the angels.

Thank you, Deputy Seguin, for your service and ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Blue Angel.
