Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Elizabeth Mazella Edwards

On this day, September 11, 2006, I watch the TV, and this year it's been hard. Liz and I set together in 2001 and watched the attack on our country. We both thought about what we would do if we ever had to feel the pain of losing a family member. That conversation came true for me 7 months ago. On this day, I pray for peace, and I wish comfort to our family and friends, and for those suffering the same loss as we have. You'll always be in my heart baby girl.

It has only been 6 months since you were taken away from your loved ones and I know they think of you every hour of every day and the tears flow from their broken hearts. My thoughts are with them and I want them to know that they are not alone. Keep watch over them and those still out on patrol protecting the Thin Blue Line. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten as heroes never die.

Always in our Words
Forever Young
Forever Blue
Our Guardian Angel".

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Edwards.

From reading all the reflections left for Elizabeth, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Elizabeth's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Elizabeth's life was about so much more than the way she died. Elizabeth will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember her. Please accept my condolences. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

Deputy Edwards, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)
