Reflections for Officer James Walter Sell
This is just so sad, I just heard about this incident, via Wikipedia of all places, I am always shocked at the sheer barbarity of some humans. Terrible, my sympathies with all who were affected personally by this tragedy.

Officer Sell, may Your Soul Rest - In - Peace.
I remember following the case after the Massachusetts incident, and how overnight, that anal pore became a MySpace legend.
I pray that there are not too many more "Jake Jekylls" out there......

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Officer Sell,
I once came through your awesome little town on my way to the Buffalo River on vacation. I accidently was running a little fast coming through your stretch of road. My wife was with me and when you stopped us, she couldn't stop laughing as you had so many lights on your car! She thought that there were dozen of cars behind us! Anyway, you were real professional and kind, and laughed with us as you sent us on our way with a very kind and wise "please be careful and slow down some". You made an enormous impact on us for some reason and we'll never forget it! God bless you and your family.

To Officer Jim Sell, the entire Sell family, and all my fellow brothers and sisters in both the Blytheville Police Department, and the Grassville Police Department. I can not tell you how sorry I am for your loss, just by reading Officer Sell’s bio, it is clear to see he was a truly great man. Unfortunately, Officer Sell is not here with us any longer, but I know he is looking down on us from heaven and continues to help keep us all safe.
This May I will be participating in the 11 annual Police Unity Tour ride to Washington DC. This year will be my 5th year making the 350 mile bicycle trip from New Jersey to DC in honor of all the Police Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. It is my honor and privilege to be making this years ride in memory of Officer Jim Sell. It is my hope that Officer Sell’s family and police department members will be present during the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Service where Officer Sell will be honored. It is my wish to meet with the family and friends of Officer Sell and present them with a small token of my appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice Officer Sell has made. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER; IT’S OUR TURN TO STAND WATCH.

To Officer Jim Sell (Captain) and his loved ones:
On this the first anniversary of your brutal murder and tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.
Jim, you rescued us, saved our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication in your thirty years of law enforcement are awe-inspiring.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise. I also salute your service to our country through your service in the U.S. Navy.

Dear Family,Friends and Fellow officers of Officer Jim Sell, May the peace of God surround you as the holiday season draws near. Try to find comfort in knowing your loved one will be in our thoughts and you in our prayers. Officer Sell was truly a HERO. He could have probably retired, set back and just enjoyed life. But he chose to go out and get the bad guys. What a love He had for his fellow man and the peace of our country. Officer Sell will be celebrating his first Christmas in Heaven this year, we can't even imagine how glorious that will be. Always know Officer Sell was "welcomed home" by our Lord,as a host of Fallen Officer's stood at attention and saluted there brother as he entered in. May you feel the love and prayers coming your way from the brotherhood family, that share the thin blue line. Jim will forever be watching over each of you and loving you. HERO'S are never forgotten. This site relects you as officer Jim Sell. You will always be Captain Sell to me and all the officers here at the Blytheville Police Department. You taught alot of us here many things about police work and for that I greatley appreciate what you did. From you, I learned how to testify in court and use on common sense. I only wish that day never happened. It was only a few days prior it seemed we saw you at the coffee shop in Blytheville. You will always be remembered here and in my thoughts.
