Reflections for Sergeant Henry Prendes
To the family of Sgt. Prendes-
You are in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve this tragic loss. The shock you are feeling is shared, unfortunately by all too many other survivors. Please know that you are not alone. It is a small consolation to know he died a hero, helping someone who needed a hero. May God give you strength to get through each day.

As I sit and try to make sense of this tragedy I see there really is no way to ever do that. As I kiss my sons goodnight, I know henry will never do that again. As I say goodnight to my wife and bid farewell with a kiss before I go to work, I know Henry will never do that again. As we conduct daily briefings with all the cops to share critical information, I know Henry will never do that again. Henry gave his life so that a citizen would be saved from the terror of a crazed boyfirend. In doing so, He left a void that will never be filled. This community lost a selfless dedicated public servant who made the ultimate sacrifice. How can we ever make sense of that.

I had the good fortune of briefly knowing Sgt. Prendes. I graduated the Academy in December and was assigned to the Southwest Area Command where Henry was. We were on different squads but I could tell that he was very well liked and people gravitated toward him. I only wish I had a chance to know him better. Thank you for your service and dedication sir.

God bless you, I raise my children to idolize men like you, it would be an honor if they become half the man you were.

When loved ones must leave us for a little while
Our hearts are heavy and there is no smile.
Grief and pain seem here to stay
And we find little strength to face each day.
They're not really gone, of our lives they're still a part--
Because our loved ones memory will live on in our heart.
May you rest in eternal peace.
A concerned and grateful citizen of Las Vegas, NV

Lord,
He was yours to give,
and yours to call home,
please stand by his brothers,
so they don't feel alone,
dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly see:
that he gave his all,
so all could have peace.
Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor - they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy,
on heroes in Blue.
Amen.
Henry, rest easy brother, we have the watch.

God be with your family, loved ones, friends, and co-workers..
What a very frightening thing to read. It brings tears to my eyes to read the tragedy that took your life... I cry and pray now for your co-workers that were with you in those final moments because only God can help them through this. I cry at the thought of you possibly having children and a wife being left behind to carry on your legacy... I'm so sorry.
Thank you so much for your sacrifice Henry, for your willingness to put yourself in danger to help someone else... You are and always will be a hero in my eyes..
I hope that one day God will lead those who knew and loved you to this site so they can see how many of us across this nation that will NEVER EVER FORGET you nor your sacrifice.
