The thoughts of the 1300 officers in Grampian Police are with the Prendes family and all Sgt Pendes' colleagues in the Las Vegas Police Dept.

Stand tall Metro. Your fellow officer and friend has ended his shift and secured.
In doing so, Sergeant Prendes has left each of you a legacy of what it is like to demonstrate an unselfish fidelity, heroic and devotion to duty.
I would hope that Sergeant Prendes ultimate sacrifice, and the outstanding community response, convinces you that you are not alone out there, you are very much appreciated by the vast majority of those you serve and protect.
Let it be recognized by all; that it’s a better profession, a safer community, and you have unparalleled pride in the badge you wear because Sergeant Henry Prendes was one of us.

Just a few months ago one of my instructors informed us of this site. I have a few more weeks until I "hit the streets", and I have been making it a habit to frequent this site more often. Sir, you have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving this country. You are a true hero. I mourn for you and your family, and the family of others, but know that you will never be forgotten. I have visted las vegas and actually lived there for a short time before returning home. All LVMPD Officers I met were true examples of what it means to be an Officer. I would like to give my condolences and sympathy to the family of Sgt Prednes and the entire LVMPD. Thank you for being part of the Thin Blue Line and giving us an example of what we should strive for when we put on our uniform everyday.

I shed a few tears as I again shrouded my badge in black. My deepest sympathy to your family, and your fellow officers of LVMPD. I interact with Metro Officers all the time during the course of my job, so this loss was rough. May the remaining officers have the courage to go on. Your family, and all of Metro, will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days to come.

Eternal rest grant unto you O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon you. May your soul, and the soul of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Well done good and faithful servant. May you enjoy the company of angels and saints.

Anon.

Dear Family, Friends and Co-workers of Sgt. Prendes,
I'm so sad to read about the loss of this young and dedicated officer. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. To the officer who shot and killed the suspect, I especially think of you and pray for your physical healing, as well as having to deal with the loss of a brother-in-blue. Thank you for responding and saving the others. You, too, are a hero! God bless you all during this difficult time and know that there are others (too many of us) who have been in your shoes. Take care out there. Sgt. Prendes, rest in peace in the arms of God. We'll see you again in Heaven!

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Sergeant Prendes.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

Sgt. Prendes, On Feb.1,2006, I was team-teaching the 'Radio Communications/Info Channel' class to the new recruits at the LVMPD Academy. Included in the course material is lengthy discussion of the worse experience possible...the '444-Officer Down' call.

An hour or so into our class, we received the horrible news. OFFICERS HAD BEEN SHOT!! This news hit my teaching partner and friend directly in her heart! One of the officers is her fiance! She was taken directly to the hospital. I remain at the Academy to complete the class but I stopped class ...advise the recruits of this horrifying news ask that we pray together. The recruits, being some of the newest members of the 'Metro family' prayed for the wounded Detective, for You and for your families. I have been on the Department 10 years and I prayed for the wounded Detective, for You and for your families. At that moment...we were all one...all family.

Sgt. Prendes,in life you touched the lives of so many others and I truly believe your ultimate sacrifice touched the lives of those recruits. I know they will never forget you! That day you truly showed them that the Metro Star does indeed shine bright!! The bar is set high! The risks are high, but the level of HONOR is high too! Thank you for your service.

God bless and keep your family and give them comfort and strength. My deepest condolences to them.

And for you Sarge,no need to check your status anymore...I'm sure you are
'Code-4'. Rest in peace.
