Words can’t describe the pain and sadness that we are all experiencing at this moment. The halls of our area command have grown mostly silent and the usual fun atmosphere during briefing is all but gone. I have seen the strongest of men cry uncontrollably and have watched the new guys bow their heads with the greatest of respect. I feel a terrible burden upon my shoulders and only wish I could have been there to fight beside you. You will be remembered by each of us as we continue to press forward. I am comforted to know that you are now safe. We will take it from here.

Rest well my brother.

Sounds like you had your priorities in order. Jesus said to become first you must be last. To be a leader one must become a faithful servant first. You were a true servant and now in the presence of our Lord..

We cannot fill his shoes, nor replace him, but we can do the things that he did. We can remember and honor him by being good Police Officers, good husbands, good fathers, and good friends. We can take seriously our life's work and be faithful servants to our Lord. Rest in peace Sergeant Prendes.

Dear Sgt.Prendes
We honor the man you are and the honor you showed for that bright star you carried. I truly believe that god has his own special people that he calls to duty as police officers and truly that shows in you. My husband never had a chance to know you but we know you were a wonderful, outstanding officer, husband, daddy, brother and son. Your life and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. Your life has brought a new repsect for our Metro Officers from the not so nice media eye as well as the community.
I cry for the pain your family is feeling and cant even imagine how they feel. I will forever keep them in my prayers and thank you for protecting and serving our community.
God Bless you and your family

Sgt. Prendes-
I regret that I did not know you during my 8 year career in dispatch. When I arrived at work at 15:45 on 02/01/06, I walked into a bleak and solemn environment. The only smiles were those on the faces of people who knew you (either professionally or personally) and were relaying their positive experiences with you. I was told that you always had a positive and upbeat personality - and you were thought of fondly by all of those who worked dayshift in the Communications Center.
My husband is an officer in DTAC and there is no need to tell you that the tragic events of that fateful afternoon bring his own mortality to mind for me. To your wife (and your daughters) I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences in this most difficult time. I can't say I understand their hurt, but I CAN say that I cried with them that day as I watched the worst news possible flash on the TV screen. You and your family have been in my thoughts each day and the outpouring of support for you, your wife and daughters has been amazing.
Sergeant, you would be proud of the city you protected and served for 14 years. They have not forgotten you - nor will I. You touched more lives than you will ever know and as you 'secure' for the last time - rest peacefully with the knowledge that you were loved and respected by not only friends and family, but by the citizens of the city you chose to give your life for.
Thank you, Henry. We can never repay or replace you - but we WILL ALWAYS HONOR YOUR MEMORY & YOUR SACRIFICE.

As long term residents of Las Vegas, we have seen this city change. The Officers of Metro face ever increasing challenges to deal with the adversity of a growing City. We wish to thank Officer Prendes for his service and ultimate sacrifice in making Las Vegas a safer place to live, as well as all the LEO's, who put themselves in harms way every day. May God Bless Officer Prendes, his Family, Friends, and Colleagues, may he watch over each and every one of you. No words can ever soften the blow of a life senselessly cut short, only time can allow the wounds of such a loss to heal. And even as the wounds heal, an emotional scar is left behind. Do not dwell on death, but rejoice in the life that was lived. Remember the times, however short, that God gave us to enjoy those that we have loved, and lost. Godspeed to you Officer Prendes.

Henry, what can I say brother. We have known each other since the third grade. I have so many memories. The birthday parties, the sleep overs. We were just little boys. I remember your first homerun, Man did you smack it! I remember our fist fight walking home from Walter Long. Thank-you for for introducing me to "flan". I know you fought tough, you always did. You have always been a warrior. I find comfort in knowing that you have gone home to Christ! 2Cor 5:17. I know you know Jesus! I will miss you, never forget you and always speak your name with honor. May GOD bless your family.

Mrs. Perends,

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I would like you to know that we appreciate your sharing your husband with our community.

Last year my wife and I had the opportunity to meet your husband under less than perfect circumstances. We had been victims of a violent crime, one that has changed our lives forever. When the officers from Metro arrived, your husband was one of them. They were not only our heroes, they were our angels, and you should be very proud of him.

Your husband and the other metro officers were wonderful. I want you to know that we have had them in our prayers since that terrible night. We will continue to do so every day we walk this earth.

When my wife and I saw your husband’s picture, we knew he was one of our angels. Now ascended, and never to be forgotten. We are sickened by this loss. Our hearts feel like they have been broken, torn asunder and left to bleed.

We will keep you in our prayers.
