In loving memory of Sgt.Henry Prendes: I couldn't even begin to put down my thoughts in writing until I had some indication that you were a follower of Christ while on earth so that you can be with Him for eternity. Now that I have that assurance, I can cope with your destiny. According to these reflections, you knew Jesus personally and that blesses me greatly as I know I will meet you face to face one day and be able to
thank you for your sacrifice. There is none greater than Jesus Christ, our
Lord and Savior. We don't get to Heaven based on what we do, but by the sacrifice He made on the cross for our sins. AMEN! Thank you for your fine example to those that worked with you and knew you. There is now a huge void that cannot be filled, but as you are remembered thoughts will turn to your exemplary life and we will be filled with pride and respect and love for the man you became. You were a wonderful testimony to the Lord you served. God be with all those who mourn and may His promises lift all those
with heavy hearts for many years to come. I am reaching thru this computer and giving a big HUG to your sweet widow, your daughters and your family, both at home and
at work. I wish I could erase your pain, but it is God-size and He's
the only One up to the task. You have
not been gone a week and you already have 16 pages of reflections.
That speaks volumes on how much
you will be missed in Las Vegas and
everywhere in between.

Dear Sergeant Prendes,
Please allow me to extend my deepest sympathy to your family. Your wife and children will always carry your unselfish sacrifice and beautiful memories with them forever. My father, Edward L. Moreno, was also a law enforcement officer who died as a result of a gunshot wound while on duty in New Mexico.
Please know that my family will keep your family in our thoughts and in our prayers. Your sacrifice will not ever be forgotten and know that you made a difference in our community of Las Vegas!
Rest in peace Sergeant Prendes and May God Bless you and your beautiful family.

Sgt. Prendes- Thank you for risking your life for all citizens. I never really thought how dangerous a police officer's job could be, until now. I pray for you and your family each night. Thanks for protecting everyone in Las Vegas. Thank you and God Bless your heart and soul,

The Policeman's Last Inspection ...
The Policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint.
Because those of us who carry badges cant always be a Saint.
Ive had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes Ive been violent because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasnt mine to keep,
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, Ive wept many unmanly tears.
I know I dont deserve a place among the people here,
they never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If youve a place for me Lord, it neednt be so grand.
I never expected or had too much, but if you dont, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman, youve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heavens streets, youve done your time in hell."

Prendes Family,
I'm sure you are all going through a difficult time right now. My prayers are with you and your entire family and especially the two young children that just lost their father. I know as a wife, a mother, a brother, an uncle all the way down to a cousin or even a friend of the family....It will be difficult for you all to cope with. It hit home for me too.... My brother is an officer for Metro in Las Vegas and was on his way to that call also....this tragic event could of happend to anyone....I'm so sorry that those events took officer Prendes life away. May god bless him and all the officers that protect us everyday.

To the family, friends and fellow officers who lay their lives on the line every day of the year, I want to say that time eases the pain of your loss, but it never does. Only by leading the kind of life Sgt. Prendes led, can we sufficiently honor his life. Be the good spouse to your better half, the best parent to your children, and serve your faith and your community in the best manner you can.
Today the "thin blue line" became a little thinner on Wednesday, because of this tragedy. Sgt. Prendes, 10-7, 10-42.

As I drove home, there were just too many officers in that intersection, directing traffic. LVMPD, NHP. My first thought, was perhaps a plane went down. When I got home, I learned the reason. Another brother had been taken. We lost a deputy 14 years ago, and it still hurts. I didn't know you Sarge, but then again, I did, in spirit. I will never again, pass that intersection without bowing my head to say a prayer for you and your family. "In the badge of a fallen officer, you see the reflection of a community in mourning". Thanks Sarge, God be with you.

I remember Henry from Las Vegas High School and had the chance to speak with him not too long ago. His family was his pride. His job was his honor. No words can say how much I appreciate being able to say that I knew this man for the short time that I did. A good man was turned into an guardian angel far too soon.
To every member of the LVMPD Thank you for keeping my children and myself safe everyday at the risk of your own life!
