Again, thank you so much for all of your support from the community and the Law Enforcement Officers, and Seriff Young. It means so much to me and my family to know that he was loved by so many people in the community. All I can say is that he is in a better place. Even though he will be missed, but he will be our guarding Angel that watches over us and the community. God Bless everyone that has shown their support. With Love His Sister, Barbara Prendes Bryan

When I heard about the incident surrounding Sgt. Prendes and all the responding Metro officers, I was in total disbelief. I didn't know Sgt. Prendes but I knew the type of person he was. He died honorably performing the duties that he swore to uphold when he graduated the academy. He made the absolute ultimate sacrifice, that others may live. Sgt. Prendes is nothing short of a hero to me. I can only hope to, one day, be like him.

To the Prendes family, my heart goes out to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Be strong in your faith and know that you have an entire city all around you for support and guidance.

My family and I were devastated to hear about what happened to Sgt. Prendes. I often tell my son, a fellow LVMPD officer, how I much admire our law enforcement men and women in uniform who enter into urban warfare everytime they go on duty. My second son is an A-10 Fighter pilot and has served several tours in Afganistan. I hold our military peace keepers in high regard. Yet,we must NEVER FORGET our law enforcement peace keepers, and protectors here in our great country, for their commitment, dedication and courage towards helping to cease man's inhumanity to man. We express our deepest sorrow to Sgt. Prendes' immediate family and his band of brothers and sisters in uniform. He sprouted his wings with honor and dignity!

To the Prendes `Ohana,

Even at 2700 miles away, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, we sat in our own squadroom, ironically, our own Sergeant's Office, and was able to take part in watching an honorable and eloquent service for such a great man. As a UNLV graduate and former Las Vegas resident, myself, along with many of my brother officers here in Honolulu, will always carry Henry in our hearts and minds, each time we are with our own families and each time we exit from own vehicles and are called into service.
Henry, may God shower you and your family with many blessings.

Na ke Akua e ha`awi mai i ka maluhia e `ae mai i na mea i hiki `ole ai ia`u ke ho`ololi,
ka ikaika e ho`ololi i na mea e hiki ai, a me ka na`auao e maopopo i ka `oko`a.

God grant me the serenity to accept things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

"Many are called, but few are chosen."
Henry, God wanted you first, and I know you're looking down on us, laughing, as we stand in the line.

I was a member of Henry's graduating class from Las Vegas High School. I attended school with Henry from Junior High all the way through High School. I remember Henry exactly the way he has been described and protrayed throughout this past week. He was full of life, confident, friendly, fun, a great person to be around. One of the things I remember most were him and Myrna. They were a true love story in our school years. I saw him a few years ago and he told me that he and Myrna had gotten married and had two daughters. I was so happy! All of us knew that after high school they would end up together. She is the one I thought of when I learned of Henry's passing. Please tell her that those of us from those years (Fremont and Vegas) will always remember she and Henry together. They were the couple everyone wanted to be! I know she was blessed to have the years with him that she did, and to have two beautiful daughters that will always keep him alive. I wish she could have had a bigger part in the services for Henry. She was such a major part of his life that people should have known about also. I wish Myrna and her girls, and Dawn, peace and comfort at this time. May they always hold on to the sweet, special memories of Henry, as will all of us who knew him.

The 28 years that I served the department and the Las Vegas community passed so fast for me, as I know that your 14 years did for you. It is a gratification that no man can know unless he has walked in your shoes. I knew you all too briefly like so many others that we pass through in our profession.

I hope my achievements in life shall be these -- that I will have fought for what was right and fair, that I will have risked for that which mattered, that I will have given help to those who were in need -- that I will have left the earth a better place for what I've done and who I've been.

Blessed are the Peacemakers. Go with God, be at Peace.

May God Bless You Sgt. Prendes, you are in His gentle care now. We were awestruck and humbled by the words from your beautiful wife and daughters as well as your LVMPD family who spoke in your honor. Because of the man you were, the lessons you taught, the love you gave and shared, your legacy will never be forgotten. You were sworn to protect and serve which you did, and not only to the citizens of our community but to your GOD. Many lessons can be learned by each of us in your words and actions each day of your life.
We thank you Mrs. Prendes, and your family, for allowing us the brief glimpse into the life of Henry, what an honorable and true life hero. Our prayers for your continued strength, courage and wisdom go out to you and Henry's daughters and the rest of the family. God Bless all the LVMPD and their fellow officers around the country.

Sergeant Prendes & Family:

Though our paths never crossed, I can truly see what an amazing person you were, not only with your career but with your family. You should be so proud of your accomplishments, listening to all those people speak today was the most beautiful thing ever. Not only did you pay the ulimate price for your life, which alone makes you a HERO, but you managed to touch every persons life that you came in contact with. You raised two of the most beautiful daughters ever and with the most incrediable respect for you and god.In the world we live in today that is very rare, but for you it was just who you were. I praise you for all the wonderful things you have done, for making me feel safer when you were with us here on earth and now I feel even safer knowing there is such a beautiful angel looking down upon us. My heart goes out to your entire family, may god walk with them now and always but especially during this painful time and give them the support and courage to go on and celebrate the wonderful man they called Dad, Son, husband, brother, uncle, friend and partner. You will forever be a HERO to all of us. You will never be forgotten, because when roots are as deep and strong as yours were they only begin to strenghing and grow until all the branches form a tree again. Your family is in my thoughts and praies. Thank you, and all the other officers out there who risk their lifes everyday so we can be safe.
