Reflections for Sergeant Henry Prendes

I hired on about the same time that you did. As a dispatcher it was always my first priority to save not only the citizens but the officers as well. I was always looking out for "my" officers so that they would always go home safe to their families. For so many years it had always worked out "okay" in the end.
Your passing hit me hard. I wish with all my heart that I could have "saved" you that day.
But, I know with all my heart that it was not in our hands. I know that everything always happens for a reason. The events of that day were horrible. But, I believe that you and the other brave units that arrived on scene saved so many lives. So many citizens and fellow officers were protected that day because of LVMPD.
Sgt. Prendes, you were put upon this earth to be an example of how to be a good person. You had so many friends, loved your daughters and wife more than anything, lived each day to the fullest, and gave your life to do what you loved to do... protect and serve. Although I know they will miss you more than any of us can imagine, your awesome influence on them will live on with them forever. Your little girls will always remember that their Daddy was a hero.
Neither I nor anyone could have saved you that day... but you saved more people and have touched more lives than you could ever have imagined. I thank you .. and your family is in our prayers. God Bless.

People always ask me if I worry about my husband because he is a police officer. My answer is "I can't". I have to trust that he will do his best to come home safely to me. I know that being a police officer is who he is, it is in his blood, just like Henry. My heart goes out to the Prendes family and the extended LVMPD family. This has been a rough week for all of us. God bless you, Henry. You served the citizens of Las Vegas well and we thank you for your sacrafice.

I have been a LEO for 18+ years in NC. I have never met Sgt. Prendes. I was in LV the day of his funeral and I counted it a PRIVLEDGE to be able to Salute him as the procession was driven down the strip. I was very impressed with the support / respect from the community. I will keep the family and fellow LEO's in my prayers.

I only spoke to you once, but even then I knew you were different you were so nice & I could hear the smile on your face. That was the day you died.

At the service I learned that you were a man of god and suddenly it all made sense on why you were so nice to speak to. I know that you truly are in a better place with the Lord, but you will be missed.

To Dawn you are a very strong woman i am sorry for your loss. And the Henry's daughters please continue with your calling your father laid the path out for you please follow it.

This is a message from the “out-of-state” part of the Prendes family.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Henry’s Metro family, his Church and the entire City of Las Vegas…. for your kindness and your support through out this terrible ordeal.

You all knew him well and loved him – for that we are forever grateful.

For those of us that traveled to your great city for his send off – we were shown your generous hospitality – the likes of which we had not seen before.

To the owners and employees of the Monte Carlo – Thank you for welcoming us and giving us temporary refuge.

Additionally - there were three people who were essential in helping with our transfers and our stay there in Las Vegas and we would like to acknowledge them by name…

Metro Protocol Officer - Bruno Choueiri,

Retired Officer – Mike Eylar with the Monte Carlo

Metro Liaison - SGT. Tom Harmon

… Our Heartfelt Thank You.

To ALL of Henry’s girls…we are so proud of you. Your courage, your strength and your inner beauty – stood out and shown bright and vivid. We are truly blessed to be related to you.

Henry…you will be cherished and are sorely missed. Peace be with you and yours.

With much love and respect,

Your Prendes Familial
