Correctional Officer Wroten,

You Served with distinction in your chosen carreer field of Law Enforcement/Correction. As many of us already know it takes a special kind of person to do just what it is we do. Hollywood doesn't make movies where we are portrayed as heros, we are always made out to be the corrupt, and crooked. The only way that image will change is by doing what you did. Sevring with pride, courage, honor, and distinction. You began your shift everyday not knowing what the day may bring, you walked the toughest beat of all where the entire population is criminal. God Bless you and your family. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and for that your brothers and sisters thank you. Go rest now your job is over, we have the watch now.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

All to often we on the street forget about the sacrifce and hardship endured by those who stand vigil in the daily battle to keep society safe from those who need not walk among us anymore. Officer Wroten made the ultimate sacrifce, so that society would be a bit safer. He died a hero and he will never be forotten.

Rest in peace Officer Alan Wroten, thanks for your service and dedication. It's a tough job behind those walls and it takes a special person to be a corrections officer. It's a profession just like like law enforcement that takes a certain kind of person to go behind those walls everyday. I want to send my deepest sympathies out the Wroten family, friends, and the entire Maryland State Division of Corrections.

R.I.P fellow brother we'll take it from here

Officer Wroten,

Somebody killed a Correctional today and a part of America died. A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side. The inmate that killed him will stand up in court, with counsel demanding his rights, While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long, lonely nights. The beat that he walked was a battlefield too, Just as if he'd gone off to war. Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast, To his name they will add a gold star. Yes, Somebody Killed a Correctional Officer today, In your town or mine. While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, A Correctional Officer put his life on the line. Now his ghost walks the toughest beat in the nation, and he stands at each new rookie's side. He answered the call, Of himself gave his all, and a part of America died.!!!!!

God Bless the Maryland State Division of Correction. Godspeed my Brother.
