I just found this site, through the loss of yet another of us, a brother here in Central Md this week. The hurt, shock, and horrow I felt as I learned of what happened to you was renewed once again...and so soon.. its only been 6 months. When I listened to all that spoke about you at your service, I knew that you were now an angel in heaven watching over us. Another good man, and a good officer, taken to soon. We will always mourn your loss here on the beat inside. Rest in Peace.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Jeff and his family. We have had many trials and tribulations the last five months. The support his family has received has been incredible. Please, know that they appreciate all that has been done to help them.
I often reflect on the last hours of Jeff's life. The almost surreal events that occurred. I know I will never forget the way our community came together. Jeff's death has forever changed us. I will never be the same person. He has taught me many lessons. We, that knew Jeff and worked with him will miss him forever. We must continue to support his family, no matter what.
Rest in peace Jeff. We've got your back.

Jeff,
I only had the priviledge of working with you for a short time. In that short time I came to know a great and highly professional man. I consider myself blessed to have known you. Our job is demanding, stressing and thankless, but it has been people like you that have helped show me that even though we are not seen as great heroes to those outside the fences, we are all heroes to our family and friends. God graced us with your presence ,for but a short time, but a time you made great use of and gave all you had.Thank You.

Brother,

Your passing brings into reality how dangerous our jobs can be. Even in a normally uneventful assignment like hospital duty, we need to stay alert. Your loss has affected me in a way you can never imagine. Every time I go to the hospital, I think of you to keep my mind in the game.

As a fellow correctional officer I know what it's like when the steel doors close behind you. My deepest sympathies go out the Wroten family and the entire Maryland D.O.C. It deeply saddens to hear of the passing of a fellow correctional officer. Officer Wroten is the true definiton of a hero, and your fellow brothers will take it from here.

To the family and friends of Officer Jeffery Wroten and to his fellow officers of the Maryland Dept. of Corrections:

I was so saddened to learn of the tragic death of this dedicated officer. On behalf of our entire family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you sustained when Officer Wroten was brutally murdered in the line of duty.

May you be comforted and supported by the warm embrace of your law enforcement family, and by other police survivors who share your painful journey.

My heart goes out to his family. In reading the reflections about Jeffrey, it is obvious that he profoundly touched the lives of many people. That is a wonderful legacy to leave to all those who cared for him.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of distinquished service Officer Wroten gave throughout his career in Corrections, and that he gave to his community and the citizens of Maryland, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 27, 2006.

I remember Jeff well from M.O.C.C. Always quick with a laugh,Jeff was one of those that that always seemed to be in the middle of our pre-roll call gatherings, always willing to do what needed doing,no matter where you needed him.Jeff was one of those officers you could work in any part of the institution and know he could keep things running.I'm sorry I did not find out in time to be at the service, but we will be thinking of the family. Rest easy, brother.
