My father was the youngest son of Officer Bertino and was 9 years old when he was killed. I can only ponder how different my fathers life would have been with my grandfather alive. To see these tribute is very touching. Thank you.

The memorial service for the eldest daughter of the murderer of Officer Bertino, namely Vera Maynez-Guerrero Dunn brought to memory the story Ms. Dunn was so ashamed of telling. Her daughter, Linda, minced no words in honoring the memory of Officer Bertino and expressing her warmest feelings toward any family that might still survive him. The perp had been in a fight with his mother, who called for police assistance after her son threw hot grease on her. Unfortunately, the brave officers who responded to the call

What a tragedy. May the sacred memory of Officer Bertino continue to be held in honor by all who derive benefit from those who Protect and Serve. Please know, too, of the deep regret and shame of the offender's family, as they keep the memory of Officer Bertino before them and remember his family in prayer.

You were serving your community when your life was taken by a cowardly criminal act. Your service honors your family, your community, your profession, colleagues in the Riverside Police Department and throughout the greater law enforcement community.

Now the community of Riverside, and your department, must deal with another cowardly criminal act resulting in the loss of one Riverside Officer and the serious wounding of another. My thoughts and prayers are with these most recent victims, their families and friends, the department and the community.

Continue to Rest in Peace - and welcome another Riverside hero into the next Life.
