Reflections for Police Officer Robert Nguyen
From the day I met you I knew there was something special about you. You were and still are the pillar I lean on. A true leader and friend. Just being in your presence gave me the power and courage to accomplish the hardest task. I am proud to say I served with you and watched you climb the ranks as I always knew you would. You’re my hero Rob… End of Watch December 25, 2005. GOD BLESS YOU

Words can not say enough but, we mourn another hero that has been taken from us. My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers. May the Lord give you strength and bless each of you during this time. Remember these few verses taken from the KJB. In I Samuel 20:3 it says, And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly [as] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, [there is] but a step between me and death. In John 3:17 it says, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. And in Philippians 1:21 it says, 21 For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

Final Inspection
The Policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much. But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."

As a member of the National Guard out of Jersey City armory, I want to express my condolences to the friends and families of the two officers.
Since 9/11, the relationship between Policemen and military personnel has become very strong. We fight evil overseas, while they keep things safe at home on the streets.
When my unit returned from our deployment in April, the JCFD and JCPD went through a lot to welcome us home. It meant a lot to myself and my fellow soldiers.
Robert Nguyen was known by my wife and my best friend here in Jersey City. I attended a vigil held by his brother Mason the night before he was found. Its amazing how connected the asian community is here when both good and bad things happen. I've been living here 3 years since I came here from the midwest and it surprises me everytime.
I wish the best for the families of the deceased. I hope with time, they can heal and continue their lives always with Shawn and Robert in their thoughts.
They served the city not for themselves, but for us.

What a horribly sad tragedy, especially on Christmas Day. These two brave men's lives were taken because of a stupid maintenance problem that should have been corrected the minute it was discovered. Sad,tragic and criminal.
My heart goes out to the immediate and work families of both Officers Nguyen and Carson. They will never be far from home so long as they are in the hearts and minds of those left behind.
God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brothers.
