One day I hope that Dan's parents will come across this memorial page and take a some consolation knowing that thousands of people understand your suffering and are praying for you.
My family knows this pain all too well.
You can never heal a broken heart, but you can try to build your life around it.

Another young officer has given his life " IN THE LINE OF DUTY" to protect and serve the community in which they live and work. Day and night 24/7 they are on the job even when they are "off the job". These are dedicated men and women who put their lives on the line at all times. We ask were do they come from and who are these brave young people. I know who they are and i know were they come form. For i am a surviving Father. Rest in peace my son.

May God watch over you and your family. From reading and hearing the news accounts, it sounds like you were the ultimate professional in how you handled this situation. While I'm sure your fellow officers in the department mourn your loss, they should be honored to have served with a professional such as your self. Take care my brother and thank you for your service.

I will never cease to be amazed how police officers function. In an instant you responded, followed your rules of training .......calling in.....making sure you were identifiable.....speaking two languages to the lawbreakers......wounded in the HEART and still you were determined and strong enough to PROTECT AND SERVE AND UPHOLD THE LAW. I am so sorry for any family that you have left behind, their lives will NEVER be the same. But I am also prouder than ever that my precious, beautiful son, Jesse Matthew Rittenhouse, E.O.W. 9/16/04 HPD 920 was a part of this amazing brotherhood.
Love,
