Reflections for Police Officer Paul Robert Salmon

It's always terrible when an officer falls, but especially a young man so full of life, a man looking forward to all the future had to offer. To the Salmon Family I offer my condolences, but words always seem woefully inadequate. It's enough that he answered the call, and I'm sure that he was a good man regardless of age. Lord bless.

My husband told me he would be going to another funeral for a fallen officer. I'm always saddened to hear we've lost another hero. My thoughts are with your family and your fiance, God bless.

You were a very giving person Paul. You always knew how to make everyone laugh no matter the mood someone was in. You always put others before yourself. I think I speak for all your other fellow classmates form High School when I say that you will always be remembered and missed. God bless all your fiance, family, and friends.

I don't know where to begin to express my condolences to your family. My husband died in the line of duty on Sept. 4th. and it has been 3 months but it is still very new and hard. My feelings go out towards you all especially his fiancee. 22 years old that is way too young to die but he must have been a great man for our Lord to want him in heaven so young.I pray for strength for you all during your grief, during the funeral and preparation times but especially after when the wound comes to surface. My heartfelt sorrow comforts you and I know one day we will meet up again with Paul, and Ray and we will all be singing and laughing once again.Until that day comes though know you are all in my thoughts and prayers and I do really mean that we are family now and we need to take care of each other. God Bless You all and God Speed Paul Robert Salmon.Love, Christy Rios wife of fallen officer Ramon M. Rios Jr. E.O.W. 9/04/05.

My heart aches for Paul's family and friends. Think of the time Paul spent here on Earth will all of you. It is better to have spent 22 years with him than to have had nothing. I heard there was a vigil held for him this evening. It is just amazing to see the community come together in such a sad time. You will all be in my prayers tomorrow as you have to go through a long and sad day at the visitation. Paul will know how many people's lives he touched after he sees all the people pour in to pay their respects and thank him for his hard work.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who unlocked your car after you accidentally locked the keys and your baby up at the mall.
I was the one who gave you a ride to the gas station when you ran out of gas on that back road.
I was the one who changed your tire because you couldn't figure out how to work the stupid scissor jack.
I was the one who directed you safely through that busy intersection when the traffic signals weren't working.
I was the one who gave you a jump-start after you left your lights on.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who found the item that identified the guy who raped your daughter.
I was the one who spent my days off in court to testify and help convict the man who beat your son so badly.
I was the one who located your grandmother in the woods that night when it was 22 degrees and she had wandered away from the nursing home.
I was the one who loaned you the raincoat the night we stood and watched your house burn.
I was the one who talked with you for two hours about your son running away from home.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who held your hand, wiped the blood out of you eyes, and calmed you down while the Fire Department cut you out of what was left of your car.
I was the one who called you at 2 a.m. to come pick up your 16 year old daughter because she had been drinking too much.
I was the one who knocked on your door at 4 a.m. to let you know your 16 year old daughter would never be coming home again.
I was the one who did CPR on your 3 year old after you found him in the pool.
I was the one who helped deliver your new baby when you didn't quite make it to the ER.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who got that snake out of your bathroom around midnight.
I was the one who got my knees and elbows scraped up fighting with the shoplifter with your carton of cigarettes.
I was the one who took your son for a "ride-along" so he could see what it was really like.
I was the one who gave you the right directions so you wouldn't miss that business meeting.
I was the one who stopped you to let you know your right rear tire was going flat.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who escorted your son's funeral procession from the church to the cemetery and cried behind my sunglasses because he was my friend, too.
I was the one watched over your place while you were on vacation.
I was the one who worked for you on Christmas Day so you could be off with your family.
I was the one who joked around with you after your truck got hit by a train and you walked away without a scratch.
I was the one was able to talk your husband into going into counseling with you.

You don't remember me, do you...?
I was the one who got shot when I pulled over a car for a traffic violation and the driver turned out to be an escaped convict who had sworn he would never go back to prison.
Oh, by the way, my memorial service is at 2 p.m.

Will you remember me now?

I will remember you!! RIP

I am so sad to see another very young officer be taken much too soon. There are no words to express the pain and heartache the survivors will feel. It is a long road ahead, but Paul and the Lord will give you all the strength you need to carry on. I want to especially express my deepest sympathy to Officer Salmon's fiancee. The pain you will feel is like no other, and I just want you to know that I understand. My fiance was killed over 2 1/2 years ago, and my whole world changed. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and feel free to contact me if you ever want or need to talk. I may be reached through Georgia COPS.

Love and prayers to you all,
