Reflections for Detective Dillon H. Stewart
My thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones and friends at the end of the third year of your EOW. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol watching over the Thin Blue Line. You will never be forgotten.

It's painful to look back and remember what we lost that day in Brooklyn. What a great man you were Dillon. You displayed bravery and honor that most of us will never know. We never will forget you brother, may God continue to look out for you and your family, we miss you very much

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

On this 2 year anniversary of your death, we pause to remember you, your family and friends. Your killer is behind bars forever and you have been awarded many awards, however that does not bring you back. We pray for your family and friends during the upcoming holiday season, may they find strength and remember all the good times you have shared. You are a true hero and will always be remembered.

One of the finest things about this web site is seeing an officer with 20 pages of reflections. It pleases this writer that you hve so many reflections because of the love and respect indivudals had for you. You are distinguished as a hero just by the profession you chose.
You are remembered again today Sir and thank you for your service.

I believe that you dont know what you can/can't or will/won't do until instinct takes over and only then will there be a change. Det. Dillion Stewart continues to touch hearts with his bravery and dedication to his job. Thank you Dillion for the new police vest and may all wear it in your honor.

Hey Stewart, it's been a minute. I discovered this page a few minutes ago and decided to write. Stewart, it still hurts like hell to know that you are no longer here. I can't explain the pain and evil that I felt having to leave at the end my tour in the 71 Pct to go home and then have to walk past the car that you were driving on the night that you were cheated of life. See, the unmarked car was being held in the parking garage in the rear of the building. We cried like babies at your funeral, me, Johnson, Robinson. But I can smile now because I have memories of you Stewart. I remember having to do push up in the academy gym with you, running until we were out of breath. I remember Johnson and Robinson making jokes of your dirty a** white Maxima that you used to pick us up with to get to the Police Academy. Hey Stewart, do you remember when you were suppose to pick me up at the Broadway Junction train station? Hmmmmm, you forgot. You never showed up and I had to take a $60 cab drive to get to Rodman's Neck Range, almost got chewed out by the Sgt, and then you, Johnson, and Robinson were laughing at me. Sucks being the only chick, lol. That was our academy crew, Company 00-17!
It's been my pleasure to have known you Stewart.I will never ever forget you buddy.I have a section of my scrap book dedicated to your memory. I testify that you were one of the great ones.
I wish your family well. R.I.P. Detective Stew!

Being assigned to the 70 Pct has been nothing, but rewarding. The opportunity to carry on in your legacy is a passion that has increased, to display your strength, honor, love and support which still carries on daily as your fellow Officers patrol on tour. It is with out a doubt that everyone misses you dearly, and it is important to us to never forget. Most people measure a man's life based on how many years he had, or how much work he's done, but rather we will measure your life based on the many smiles you gave, or the many hearts you touched, and more importantly the contributions you gave to life itself, just for living. Thank you DET. DILLON STEWART for living!

Today many of us gathered at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to reflect upon Dillon. I partnered up with Dillon many midnight tours in the 70. He really tried all the time to create comfort and ease amongst the people we would encounter, especially younger kids that were causing the problems. His smooth tone of voice and wisdom always took hold on those whom it was addressed. About a month ago, I kept thinking of him,and I did not realize that one year had gone by already. I guess I just miss the guy.
God Bless you Dillon, your friend, LUKEDUKE
