Rest in Peace Officer Stewart, your heroic actions and dedication to the job will never be forgotten.

Ofc. Stewart. Thank you for giving your life to protect those around you. You are a Warrior in the truest meaning. Even after being shot through the heart, you were still able to chase your assailant which lead to his arrest. This just proves that we can never give up after being atacked!!! Thanks for being a "Sheepdog" in a world of wolves and sheep!!! R.I.P.

Dillon,
You will be truly missed by all of us at the 70. You were one of the nicest and most sincere guys I've ever had the pleasure of working with on the midnight tour. We will never ever forget you and your family. I love you and it breaks my heart that you were taken from us so abruptly.
I hope you are at peace and at a better place now.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Although I know it is only a small consolation to your family, rest in peace knowing that the perp was apprehended, thanks to your heroic effort despite being shot.
Take comfort in knowing that you will not be forgotten, and that you, your family, and your loved ones will always be a part of our family and will always find help and support when it is needed.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Today, November 29, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Dillon Stewart who died in the line of duty just yesterday.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Stewart’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
