From the short time I knew you I could tell you had a great personality. I'll miss never being able to truly know you as a friend. That bright smile that could light up any room or any person will be greatly missed.

TODAY WAS A LONG DAY, OUR UNIT HIT THE ROAD AT 12AM THIS MORNING TO TRAVEL OVER 400 MILES ONCE AGAIN TO WIGGINS, MISSISSIPPI. SADLY THIS WAS ONE TRIP NONE OF US THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE TO MAKE IN OUR LIFE. TODAY SEVERAL MEMBERS OF OUR UNIT RETURNED TO WIGGINS, NOT FOR HURRICANE RELIEF BUT TO PAY TRIBUTE, HONOR, AND RESPECT FOR BRANDON. AS YOU HAVE READ IN OTHER NOTES AND LETTERS, OUR UNIT ONLY HAD THE CHANCE TO KNOW BRANDON FOR A WEEK. ONE WOULD NEVER THINK THAT YOU COULD REALLY KNOW A PERSON IN SUCH A SHORT TIME, BUT WE SHARED STORIES ABOUT OUR LIVES, WE LAUGHED, AND HELPED THE COMMUNITY NIGHT AFTER NIGHT WHILE WORKING TWELVE HOUR SHIFTS TOGETHER. WE LEARNED THAT BRANDON WAS DEDICATED TO HIS JOB AND WAS EXCITED ABOUT BEING A NARCOTICS OFFICER. MAYBE THAT'S WHY ALL OF US BECAME CLOSE TO HIM BECAUSED WE TOO, LOVE BEING IN A NARCOTICS UNIT. OUR UNIT WAS HONORED TO TAKE THE TIME OUT OF OUR DAILY LIVES, TO TRAVEL TO WIGGINS AND LET HIS FELLOW OFFICERS NOW HOW MUCH BRANDON AND THEM HAVE BECAME PART OF OUR LIVES. THE EXPERIENCES WE HAD THERE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. WE WERE PROUD TO BE THERE BESIDE THE HUNDREDS OF OFFICERS THAT ALSO TRAVELED TO SHOW THERE SUPPORT FOR WIGGINS POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE FAMILY, AND THE COMMUNITY. ALL OF US WERE SPEACHLESS WHEN WE REUNITED WITH THE CHIEF OF WIGGINS AND ALL OF THE OTHER OFFICERS WE HAD WORKED BESIDE. OUR HEART GOES OUT TO THEM, AND AS WE TOLD THEM BEFORE LEAVING THIS AFTERNOON, IF YOU NEED US WERE ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND YOUR COMMUNITY.

i was unable to attend the funeral today, but wiggins was on my mind. i have some momeries for having spent such a short time there. the resevoir, wiggins first tasing, marlboro 1, the mothership, playstation2, fueling with all the wiggins guys at the local walmart, meeting the guys that came all the way from florida only to be arrested by florida officers, curfew enforcement and meeting up with everyone to laugh.wires in the patrol car wheels, food at the baptist church(miss. folks can cook)the night we worked brandon so hard, every arrest made he had to do the paper work. he never complained. the city of wiggins should be poroud of the officers that defend them. support them in the coming weeks. our agency has dealt with tragedy as well. we know how much that support will mean in the coming days, moths and years. not a day goes by that you will not think of these two fine officers. keep up the good work wiggins p.d., keep putting them crooks where they need to be......remember if you need us we will return.

As a volunteer fire fighter/paramedic with the Wiggins Fire Dept. and a resident of Stone County, I have worked an untold number of calls with Brandon. He was a super guy. The shock and horror I felt when I heard about his death can not be put into words. The loss to the Brandons family, The City of Wiggins, and Stone County can never be measured. I can only hope to offer some peace to the family and the community by saying what a great job and person Brandon was and that he will be greatly missed. We will never forget the sacrifice Brandon has made. May God bless his family and this community as we will all need it in the hours, days, and years to come. We will never forget!

For any police department to lose one of it's own is sad, but for such a small community to lose two in one incident is beyond heartbreaking and tragic.
May Officers Breland and Fite Rest in Peace. They're spirits will live forever in the hearts and minds of Wiggins, MS. Thier extended family in blue will also miss them.
To the families of these two fine men, our prayers are with you.

I SEND MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER BRELAND. I KNOW THE PAIN AND SORROW THAT YOU ARE NOW FEELING AS MY HUSBAND WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY ON AUGUST 13, 2005. I AM SURE THAT HE DID HIS JOB WITH GREAT PRIDE AS ALL THE OFFICERS DO AND WE SHOULD BE PROUD TO BE APART OF THIS FAMILY THAT WE HAVE NOW BEEN INTRODUCED TO. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALL IN THIS TIME OF LOSS.

It is still quite shocking to have lost a dear friend. After those long 10 weeks of 205 and growing so close to each and every one. Then after I was moved 300 miles from my original home to work down here, you and I kept in touch.
The first friend I had down here would always greet me with a smile and laugh about the great times we had in Pearl.
I will miss you just as all of your fellow brothers in Stone County as well as everyone from 205. That is just something that those we protect will never understand.
Thanks for making me feel welcome when I was so unsure about being so far from home, when little did I know that it really wasn't that far away.
