On behalf of my agency we offer our deepest condolences to Officer Stevens family, friends and the CHP. Each day we are reminded that we have chosen a profession that places us in harms way whether we know it or not. Every day is unpredictable and we never know what the outcome will be until we go off duty.
Officer Stevens will always be remembered on the wall of heroes for the ultimate sacrafice made while serving mankind.
Godspeed to Officer Stevens.

GOD'S HERO IN BLUE:
We hear you saying:
“Come, my friend, with me apart…from years of service rest.
You’ve helped the poor, protected all, you’ve passed Life’s every test.
You did not falter, did not fail though weary was your soul
I saw your tears, I felt your fears…I helped you toward your goal.
Beneath that badge there beat a heart, strong, courageous, true…
When duty called, you answered, my hero dressed in blue!
Come, my friend, your reward awaits: the law you did obey.
Faithful through life’s endless storms you showed my people the way.
Your beat is ended; roll call’s done! Now, rest on Heaven’s shore.
The good you did so willingly will remain forever more.”
Thank you; Father, for your great love as we cherish his memory dear
We offer this brave soul to you…be with him ever near.
And when, at last, we hear your call may we each take our place
On Heaven’s shore, eternal home, beneath your kindly gaze.

Today I attended the funeral for my fellow officer Brian Jackson who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 13. Words cannot express how heavy my heart is right now. I am in shock that I signed on to review reflections for my fallen brother only to see that another brother has been taken from us so soon. My deepest condolences go out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Stevens. I guess God is short-handed on His detail and needed a few good officers to help patrol the streets of Heaven. God speed brother. Watch over us from above and tell my brother Brian that we miss him.

I am so sorry for the family and friends of Officer Stevens at this impossible time. I specifically checked the website just to check if the suspect was apprehended. I am so glad, there was an arrest. Just another great job by the police. While the arrest may not seem to be the most important thing right now, it will help during the grieving in the days to come. Officer Stevens, like my brother-in-law, would have worked day and night to apprehend the responsible party if it had been another officer who had fallen. Our prayers are with you. Know that there are great people and organizations to help you through both the immediate future and over time.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I have just returned from the funeral of our brother Brian Jackson killed in the line of duty just five days ago and now Andy. So I ask myself, why do we do this thankless job? It can’t be the money, or the hours. God knows we loose more then we win and you can never make the public happy. But you know, my wife and kids will sleep safe because of men and woman who share a kinship that can’t be explained because we are willing to do what the fearful masses wouldn’t dare. Thank you my brother. Go with God

It hits us like a punch in the stomach and knocking the breath out of us all. We go through our shifts so quickly answering calls and doing our jobs that we forget the danger we are in. That is until something horrible happens. My brother Andy, I never met you, we were never partners,we never had training together, we never had coffee together, we never worked some strange or funny investigation together but believe me when I say "WE" are all hurting, we will all miss you. Rest in peace Brother

I'm deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is to lose one you love. We can only know that they did what they loved and went in a way all of us would hope to if our time was up. CHP have always been family to me and when I heard of the loss it was from one of your fellow brothers. It was as if they lost a close family member. I can certainly sympathize with you. I hope you can find comfort in your heart knowing he is in a much better place protecting the streets up there! God Bless your family.
