It's never easy
for those left behind,
but when you lose someone
so senselessly and unexpectedly
we all feel the shock.

May it help to know
how many people share your sorrow
and stand with you in your time of need.

Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished, an officer's final tour of duty is finished. "Officer Down", is our greatest fear, and once again I hold back a tear.

As a former Deputy Sheriff, I am deeply sorry for the loss the family of Andy must endure for this senseless act. Andy represents one of many fallen officers that must never be forgotten. I am discouraged by the number of officers lost this year, but I am encouraged by the reflections for Andy, a truly dedicated officer. He represented and will continue to represent why those in law enforcement will always have my deepest respect and gratitude. Rest in peace my brother, you have joined others who were taken too soon and left a job we so much needed you to do.
