Kay ~ We are going to miss you terribly! Thank you for always being the person you are and were to each and every one of us. Your caring smile could heal the pain and suffering in all those around. You will never be forgotten and I will never forget your voice. We, as dispatchers, never take for granted the fact that one of our officers can be taken from us at any given moment. Even though it is so very painful to let go of you, I know that you are walking with Him. May the paths and roads you take now be all you have ever dreamed of here on this earth ~ I will continue to hear you in my transmissions and the memory of your precious spirit will live long after this tour of duty has taken you home. May your Motor Wings be enhanced by those of your Angel Wings now...until we meet again.

Dispatcher Kimberly Abercrombie

I am at such a loss it is hard to know where to begin. Kay was such a wonderful person. She was a very quiet person, but to her friends she was full of life. I had the opportunity to work with her for 3 years. The last year she and I became friends. We didn't work the same shift, but we parked next to each other and talked almost every night. There were nights she would stay over and talk for hours. She was a beautiful person who never had a harsh word for anyone. She took her profession serious and ultimately gave her life performing a job she loved. I am blessed to have known her. I will deeply miss her, but i know she will be riding with me every night. My heart and prayers go out to her family.

Kay, I love you girl... I am going to miss your smiling face every night. No matter how I was feeling before I saw you, I always left with a smile. Thank you, you touched me more than you could ever know.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

My heart goes out to the family of Rogers and to the Murfreesboro police department. This really hits home with me, since I too am a female officer. Rogers paid the ultimate sacrifice. Again, my condolences.
As the Bible states in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8:
"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven; A time to be born and a time to die...."
God bless you sister for the sacrifice you have made. God bless the fallen angel.

I just read the memorial for Officer Kay Rogers and I was deeply saddened. As a fellow motor jockey I know the dangers involved and it is only by the grace of God that I sit here today. Why some of us made it and some didn't has always been a mystery.
I can say this with a great amount of certainty...there are folks all across this country that care very deeply and will lift in prayer the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Rogers.
It is my personal prayer that you experience the eternal love and endless blessings of our Lord and Savior.
May God keep safe from harm the men and women of the Murfreesboro Police Department.

I know that I am speaking for all of the Vanderbilt Police Dept. when I say that Kay and M.P.D. are in our thoughts and prayers. It was my pleasure to have a chance to know Kay while attending Motor school. Kay was a warm and generous person. Everyone that had a chance to know her is a better person for having that chance. May God hold you in his arms. Rest easy we'll miss you.
