Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Snow Skelton was my great-granduncle and I am so happy that this tribute has finally been made. I visited his grave yesterday and wondered about how his wife and seven children survived this horrible experience. Somehow I hope that they will know of this honor.

Although I was not fortunate enough to meet my great grandfather, I often look at his picture in my father's house and wonder about this wonderful and brave man. I only wish him peace and love, and of course THANKS!!!

My Grandfather was an honorable man of gentle character. I miss him. It is clear that he was imbued with the ideal of selfless sacrifice by his father, L. Snow Skelton. The sacrifice of one's life in the service of others knows no equal.

As his great-granddaughter, I never met Officer Skelton. Through the efforts of my father and very helpful officials (who remain unknown to me), your sacrifice is now recognized beyond my immediate family. God bless you and may you and my Grandpa rest in peace.

L. Snow Skelton was my grandfather. He died 21 years before I was born. His wife, my grandmother, lived as a widow until 1965 when she died. She reared her large family in the years following the death of her husband. My father, then 17, turned down several atheletic scholarhips to remain at home to help his mother.
