My deepest condolences go out to Jonathan's family, his police family, and his friends. It sounds like he had a purpose and a passion and I hate that it cost him his life. I hope and pray that the life he lived will continue to be a testimony to those who still don't know God's love and mercy, and that somehow there will be lives changed for the better as a result of this tragedy. As the sister of 3 OCPD officers, I know that this is a family's worst nightmare. I cannot begin to fathom actually living it. I recognize and thank you for the sacrifice that your family has made. My prayer for you is that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will somehow, some way be able to find you in the midst of your sorrow, grief, and pain and that you will be comforted by it.

Kelly,
It's impossible to know exactly what you're going through right now or even what to say to soothe your hurt, but I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you and Kaden. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

Kelly - We are so sorry for your loss. It seems like such a short time ago when you all were here at the house for dinner and we had a great time and were counting the days until Kaden's arrival. I will never forget seeing you in the hospital that week and seeing all of the love that Jon had for you. You both were always beaming when we saw you. And it seems like yesterday when you all were visiting us in the hospital for our new arrival and just chatting away and once again Jonathan bragging and beaming about his family!!! He was so proud of you all. I hope that that will be a comfort to you.
The shock of this tragedy has rocked further than you can ever imagine. You both have touched lives that you aren't even aware of. Please know that we love you and will always be here to support you.
What an honor and privilege it was to know Jonathan and to consider him a friend. And I know that one day when the Lord calls us all home we will once again be reunited with what was an Angel here on Earth!!
We are praying for you and all of your's and Jonathan's family!!

On Oct.18 2005 I was waiting to go into court, having a bad day. Then here came Jon. Smile on his face (as usual). He sat next to me and we talked. In just little time he had me smiling again. Jon was an outstanding person and officer. He will be missed. My prayers and thoughts go to his family.

That is why the Almighty God, takes the bravest of our sisters and brothers in blue.

3B56. This was how most of us knew you. You were a "10th Street Boy". We knew your voice, which always had a hint of a smile in it. We will never foget you and we will always carry you in our hearts. Your inspiration, valor and courage will be missed by us all. We love you Jon!

Kelly,
May you and the family be kept safe and guided through this tragedy with the blessing of God.

Jon,
The last call I was on with you, just two nights before the accident, is now forever etched in my mind. We put our heads together to solve a search-and-seizure question and, with you recalling our training better than I, you answered it correctly.

My heart goes out to Kelly and your kids, to Ron and all of your family. You have inspired me, and I hope many others, to try with a new-found resolve to live my life to the fullest, to treasure the ones I love, and to never take for granted the gifts in life I've been given.

May you rest easy, Jon. You will never be forgotten.

Two smiling eyes are sleeping,
Two busy hands are still.
The one we loved so deeply
Is resting at God's will.
May he always walk in sunshine,
God's love around him glow.
For all the happiness he gave us,
only a few will ever know.
It broke our hearts to lose him
but he did not go alone.
For part of us went with him
The day God called him home.

Sergeant Dragus will be greatly missed by many, and never forgotten. He was truely a wonderful person and friend to all who knew him.

Kelly, I can't imagine how hard this is for you. The one thing that an officer's wife fears the most is that one day there will be a knock on the door. I am so sorry that this has happened to you and your family. We are all grieving with you. Find strength and peace in the Lord. We will be thinking of you always.

GOD bless you Jon. I will miss you greatly. Kelly when you came to the academy I told you not to marry the guy you were dating during the academy. I am glad you met Jon later in your career. You guys were great together. He will be missed. He will serve on GOD'S force now. We Love You Guys And We Will Never Forget.

I did not know Sergeant Dragus but from what i have read he was a great officer, a devoted father, husband, and freind. It would have been an honor to know him call him a brother. I only hope I can be half the officer he was. Rest in Peace and may God be with your family.

Jon, I only knew of you a short while and would often see you at Denny's or Jail. You always had a smile about you that would make one wonder just what were you thinking. After reading several of the reflections I see that you were a Godly Man in more than just your job, but with your family as well. I have only been doing this job for a couple years, but see that I have much more to learn and only hope that I can do it half as well as you did. Thank you for being a leader, a hero, and most of all a brother in law enforcement. Take care and rest easy now.
