Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Daniel Jess Lobo, Jr.
Danny,
It has been two months since I received news of you leaving us. When I recevied the call I remember the disbelief I felt. We had been friends for so long, I remember playing baseball against each other during our Little League years. I am glad I was able to have you as a friend. You will be missed, but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
God bless,
Deputy S. Cerda

Dan
Thanks for always making the incidents we worked together in the streets light and often fun. Always love your stupid jokes, and thanks for listening to mine. Thanks for watching the firemans' "6". As you know, your girls were brave and well spoken at your service. Well done Deputy Lobo.
One last thing for now, (but I think I know the answer)...does God really ride a Harley??

Brother Lobo,
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today I am so thankful.... to you for giving me my beautiful Granddaughters and for having you in ours lives. It is very hard especially at this time of the year, there is so many things I think about, how at Christmas I would buy you and Joey the same things you ended up looking like twins. Also how I would make you, your own potato salad without the onions. Remember when you were in the academy and you had me sew some leather items for you and the needle on the machine kept breaking over and over. I will always remember when ever we had something to put together it was you I called. We all miss you Danny and think of you all the time. Danny will you and God watch over Joey for me..........

Hey Daniel,
Man it's hard, harder than I ever thought it would be. Thanksgiving is this week and you know what the day after was always all about...The Christmas lights! You always wanted to be the first on the steet to get them up, and funny once we seperated and had our own homes that competition was between you and I. Guess what...I'm putting them up on Friday. We Love and Miss you Danny. P.S. I made peace with my Dad, you got your way and the last word. Ha!Ha!

Danny,
Yesterday was a hard day for all of us on your birthday. Kadie stayed with me she was afraid she would cry at school. We did alittle baking and talked. I told her she has yours eyes and she said she was so happy she does. The girls are so lovely and sweet but you know that...... We all miss you and think of you daily..... Grandma Ellen

As a friend and a fellow officer, I want to say that you are missed very much. It's been some time and I'm still in disbelief. I don't say too many prayers, but they are with you and your family. I know we weren't incredibly close, but you're a great guy and friend. Your family is always in my thoughts and I hope I can help. Take care Danny.

Happy Birthday Daniel! We talked about funny stories today on your Birthday. Kiley talked about how when you gave her a bath and knocked her tooth out when you were washing her face and how her tooth went down the drain. Remember how mad she was at you? It was good that she was able to talk about that because usually she doesn't say much (just like her Daddy). Kadie wrote another song for you and she sang Happy Birthday to you as soon as she woke up this morning. I just thought about all those Birthdays that we celebrated together. What they/we would give for one more Birthday, we miss you. I pray for your Mom and Dad today...It's probably one of the toughest days yet. Me

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Daniel did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Daniel be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Deputy Lobo's family, friends, and co-workers are going through in losing him. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of loss until they've walked in our shoes. Please know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (The Davis County Sheriff's Office will always know how to reach me or write jocelyne1974 at canada dot com)
As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know Daniel but, I am certain he was well respected and well loved. Daniel will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were all blessed to have been able to know and love Daniel, even for a short time. I pray that Daniel, Dennis, and all the other fallen officers will continue to watch over us all as only they can.
Thank you Deputy Lobo for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.
Wishing you and all those who's lives you touched brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)
